After 3 days of snizzle and very light snow which did manage to settle on some surfaces it's now snowing 'properly' here in St Leonards on Sea. By properly I mean decent size snowflakes and readily settling on surfaces which previously remained uncovered.

Latest Met office further outlook.

Looks like this winter is Far from over. Bear in mind their outlooks have been amazingly accurate recently.

Actually some UHI effect seems to be sustaining/bolstering the ones coming across Central London.

Is that what's causing them to grow?

One of those blobs moving out of central London just passed over Surbiton. Really nice big flakes and quite heavy but only lasted barely a minute. You could see the snow floating about in the sky above before it suddenly arrived.

Yes if you receive any more snow, make the very most of it!

I’d wait a while before you clean your car until the Saharan dust has cleared!

Roughly we've had about 9cm of snow during this snow spell, and most of it was from today, with about 4CM falling since midday!! :ball-santa-emoji:. And it keeps on Snowing!!!

Decent snow flurries at times earlier today.

Is that it for NW/N Kent for today or a little flurry or two this evening?

I'd rather it warm up now so we can sit on the beach sunbathing

Sorry to be picky but that's not a whiteout. Very nice though

Drive through it then! Good luck and post your results

Worse spot for snow? Try living on the south coast! At least the summers are good eh.

I think living directly on the south coast you kind of expect to not do too well for snowfall. We definitely do badly here for an inland area. The best event I can remember well was the late January 2003 event that dumped loads here.

A 'whiteout' is when it's impossible to distinguish ground from sky, and a 'blizzard' is when heavy falling and/or lying snow is blown around severely by sustained strong winds, giving prolonged horizontal snow and major drifting.  What's happened today has been moderate to heavy snow showers.  Still wouldn't drive through them, though.

Ok thanks, just now seems all to the east of me at present, those in line fade out as they past Colchester.

That’s amazingly bullish from the MO at that range. Interesting...
