It's snowing!?‍♂️

Noooo, ive just managed to clear my front path with salt and its nice and ice free now. Non stop showers coming in off the north sea in a direct path to us, driving me nuts. I should just accept the inevitable, but I keep trying to clear newest dumpings, only to have another load straight after.

Text from wife  (I'm in Canterbury) saying that it is pepping up at home in Herne Bay. I've been using the 'p' word a lot this week so bit of a mickey take from a non-weather enthusiast.  They just don't get it, do they!

The latest radar image certainly ties in with the fax output for around this time with the streamer situated just off the Essex coast with moderate to heavy snow showers rolling into Kent.

North and east Norfolk, east Suffolk and southeast Essex look likely to continue seeing moderate to perhaps heavy snow showers until later on this evening with further accumulations, especially later on as the temperature's drop away. After midnight pressure rises will eradicate most of the showers with many areas becoming clear and very cold! Wouldn't be surprised to see minimum temperature's approaching -10C under snow cover in rural inland Essex or Norfolk.

Sadly, it's probably too much to the N of E to get the heavy stuff there.  We've just had a flurry but the main stream is east of us again.  It went from a heavy E-W streamer last night to pivoting over us to the current NE streamer, but with it dying out for the period when it pivoted - i.e giving us nothing.  Nature can be cruel!

At last we have proper SNOW!

Only light to moderate but more than the flurries of tiny flakes we have been having.

Moderate to heavy snow here for the last 30 mins, even though the radar has it losing intensity rapidly as it gets here. Must be very heavy a little way further NE.

Annoyingly, the whole band does seem to be shifting South fast and I'm not sure we'll stay in the good stuff for more than this one shower. Why can't we just have one stable, static-ish streamer...?!

Also these showers are continuing to struggle with maintaining intensity as they move inland. Irritating, as the North Downs aren't THAT big, and it's been less of an issue in the past...

EDIT: Just eased right off. Been the problem throughout this spell for us. Almost constant snow for days but a critical lack of intensity limiting accumulations and impact.

There is here, although we are also getting some heavier stuff now and then. So far just enough to make icy areas, white again, and top up snow that's left. But not settling on melted surfaces. Need it heavier, and a bit darker for that I think. The sun worked it's magic this morning.

You got me to "curtain twitch" Leeanne but nothing fell here in Lee, a little to your West.

It has clouded over, after a Sunny Morning but the cloud is very thin.

All the action is to our E./S.E.

Unless the flow undergoes some sort of last minute "Damascene Conversion", apologies stole that line from our heavily tousled P.M., during his stint at the despatch box at P.M.Q.'s, likely to stay that way for the rest of the Day.

With no Snow action in my neck of the woods, decided to take a close look at that 06z GFS run in it's latter stages, and we could be led on another Synoptic Snow Chase again, if the American Model is to be believed, this at t228, t264 and t288 :

All way off in la la land, of course.

Regards,

Tom.

The snow shower didn't last long, and it's back to sunny skies again.  Snow has pretty much melted now out of the shade

Hello. It was light cloud filling the south east tonight not snow.  Notice that the double digit sub temperature has gone I guess because there is now a signal for cloud.

The wind swings back east early tomorrow.

window of 6-7hours before the It goes SE.

The winds are due to shift back to more of a North/North Easterly tonight before backing full south easterly in the early hours! So still a good chance for many later too :)

However, as the wind shifts through E to SE it will be drier air and higher pressure so will kill any ppn.
