Looking promising for later Sussex coasters! As I said yesterday, it looked as though the parimiters were in place for better convection today than we have seen so far in this cold spell.

Those that have done well with snow so far have seen their totals mount through the persistence of the snow in favoured spots rather than anything heavy.

Sky looks primed here with convectice clouds developing.

If we are lucky here, and it is quite a big if, we should see snow at a colder time of day ( after 3pm) for it to stick.

Anyway, snow or no snow here I hope those that have missed out so far are aloud to share, rather than those that have already had a dumping!

I went to Stanborough  park today. Splash park was a bit nippy!

Haven't been to stanborough for ages Tim. Imagine it could be cold there at the moment, especially near the lakes. Few flakes here again this morning. Thats four days in a row that snow has fallen. Not bad I suppose. Still a little lying. Wonder if we will get any this evening before hard frost tonight. Hopefully not too much cloud to spoil chances of a good frost. Interesting charts again from GFS this morning..

Afternoon all,

Looks like I got back from my errands at just about the right time. And amazingly as much as the side roads look akin to the ice rink that Torvill and Dean won gold in Sarajevo all those years ago - I didn't slip once.

Enjoy Sheppey and Sittingbourne lot. Light snow here, North Sea possibly firing towards me. Think heavier stuff won't be here for a few hours if it happens.

Yes, like you, I’m hoping if, and it’s a bit if, things set up well for us it doesn’t happen till late afternoon onwards, as I think anything falling now would struggle to settle and stay.

A marked change in the weather for next week, 10c according to BBC app, are they on the same planet???

It does look like turning significant milder, for a short period at least.

Just not cold enough to maintain snow cover with these showers

It is, it's just it needs to be constant and very heavy!

Nothing modelled as a battleground breakdown either according to the Meto and BBC weather apps

Temperatures at 1.7 now after an overnight low of -1.1. Just had a decent 20min flurry which was unexpected, so that’s 4 days on the trot where it has snowed here, I’ll take it even though it’s not what I had hoped for in terms of depth & severity.

Ps it’s positively brilliant when compared to the mild wet dross of the previous 2 winters.

Enjoy your streamers you lucky people

That’s more like it!!! Heaviest of the spell so far and vibrant colours on the radar on the way. Building on the grass and sticking to the trees this time and it’s getting near the snow depth before most of it melted.

nice surprise 8.5/10
