If those showers up near Felixstowe and Clacton can hold together SE Essex, Medway Towns down to Brighton could be in for a treat. And also areas adjacent to that as well, extending westwards into East London etc

Dark clouds to the East.

Still the sun shines.

Temp  briefly up to 2c (fallen back to 1c)

Snow sliding off conservatory roof..

None of this is amusing me

Bring on them showers..

Light snow here , sun pops out every now and then

It's kind of the same here too just up the road, looking like we may actually get a bit in our neck of the woods today!

Yh got to agree with you mate, really underwhelming for most but there are some Jackpot zones just not as many as usual this time. Parts of NE Essex and SE Suffolk have had something similar to 1991 and 1987 whereas 40 miles down the coast it just about breaks into the top 10.

I would say areas North of Norwich, SE Suffolk and NE Essex have hit the jackpot but thats literally a fraction of the SE Population and thats why most are disgruntled given the set up

For here in NE London we haven’t had the deep snow depths- probably topped out at about an inch or so on surfaces where the snow hadn’t drifted or didn’t melt - but I suppose beggars can’t be choosers. We’ve had a dearth of cold spells in the SE since 2013, so we’re comparing this to only a couple of other spells from the last 8 years.

To me there are several indicators of a good spell - snow depths, number of days of falling snow, how cold it gets and how long the snow lasts on the ground. In terms of depths it’s been a 4 or 5 out of 10. We’ve had 3 straight days of almost continuous snowfall, between light and moderate and occasionally heavy. Possibly some more snow showers today which will make it 4 straight days. The lack of sustained heavy snow has been a bit of a downer, convection has been shallow so we haven’t seen the really high rates of snowfall which would have given more of us deeper accumulating snow. For depth of cold, it’s been very good so far. Monday was perfect. -2c all day, very low dew points, powdery, drifting snow, no hint of marginality at all. For number of days of lying snow, we’re on day 3/4 now and much of the snow we have now could last until the end of the weekend if it stays cold enough. That’s nearly a week - that doesn’t happen very often in the SE.

It was a clear sunny morning in Streatham and now the clouds are building to my east.

It's amazing how beautiful the snow looks when the sun is out.

That's the million dollar question? Will they hold together? They usually fizzle out as they head south west into london region unless there is some convection high up..

Positive thoughts @Marie ! You look to be in a great position if the heavier showers hold together! Fingers crossed!

4th day of show up here on the North Norfolk Coast.
We are up on Beacon Hill that forms the highest point in Norfolk at 110 mtrs  (which of course isn’t saying much ).

The snow showers were pretty constant through the night.

Absolutely beautiful to look at.
