Interesting reports of lightning on the radar, wonder if its associated with the low in northern France, maybe pushing energy north.. Lets see what happens.

It is, I watch it throw something up, and it's what caused the snow that's further south. Though it might intensify the streamer which it also seems to have done.

Different sort of day out there today. The brief spells of sunshine are giving way to snow showers with some settling still occurring in the low dewpoints.

I quite like these rare sorts of days in these times, where after having some sun the sky turns darker once a shower arrives.

There's a big batch of heavy snow incoming, I'd say make the most of it!

Oh I am! It has started earlier anyway, I didn’t expect any showers till this aftenoon! Four days of snowfall is fantastic! However I’m always greedy, aren’t we all? Haha

Some pictures from this morning's walk. Clouded over now with a few flakes floating past the window. Still -3.

Radar is deceiving

Says snow (showers)

Sunny and temps up to 1c already

I wouldn't worry. The shower I had earlier dropped my temperature from 0.6°C to -0.6°C

Nothing doing here currently. Still some nice amounts of snow on the ground in sheltered spots.

We look potentially OK here for the mid Kent streamer that may happen later, though need a bit more of a northerly element to the easterly.

Not now no. Radar suggests Thanet should get some shortly? Then will move towards me. Lots of beefy looking showers just off the coast

Certainly wouldn't get into my top 10 snowy spells, in relation to temperatures it's been okay and even longevity looks like it's going to make a week so not bad there but in terms of lying snow a grand total of 5cms lays way behind other spells!

Temperature rising steadily now here in Locksbottom. From a low of -3.1 how @ 9.50 only -1.1 so reckon by 11 we will have breached zero mark so would have been 76 hours of zero or below not bad.

Absoultely epic snow pictures in Scotland thread. One guy has 17 inches of lying snow and Braemar has had deepest level snow for over 20 years I think I read.Really has been a memorable winter up there!Looks like lovely cold winters days till Saturday that will slowly diminish snow and think by Sunday will all be gone.We are all in for some harsh night8me frosts so please be careful if you venture out as ice risk will be high

stay safe

p.s.saw it got to -17.1 last night in Scotland.Reckon a -20 not out the question tonight!!

Flurry with biggest flakes of this spell so far , too far west for anything significant today though . I love this type if showers though.

I'd say this is definitely the best day of the cold spell so far.

Sunshine in between the showers and lovely landscape. Nothing dull here!

It was a clear sunny morning in Streatham and now the clouds are building to my east.

It's amazing how beautiful the snow looks when the sun is out.
