Have seen several Twitter weather accounts quoting negative double figures across central parts of our region tomorrow night, including London.

Really? Thoughts?

We'll see any where with snow cover would be favourite for that, and away from coasts.

Amazing same areas having the snow...Ipswich (Suffolk coast) towards Colchester. Just been watching the footie, Peterborough having more snow than down here! That's my lot for radar watching, about as successful as Ipswich at footie

Most models show light winds Wednesday night and -6 to -8 across the SE so it's plausible if places still have snow cover then. I doubt it for inner London as the snow cover is rather patchy!

My WeatherPro app has -9 for London tomorrow.
But I know their London data is taken from the Heathrow weather station. Bit colder there I imagine compared to standing slap bang in the middle.

there's been snow in the air here for the thick end of 36 hours and all we've got is a dusting. such an amazing contrast with the 90 minute / 5" dump a couple of sunday's ago!

I swear there's been a snow magnet around the Ipswich area the last 48 hours, the wind could come in from the south west there's still be snow! (I'm not bitter at all about this).

If you are under the moderate area it seems to be a streamer which could go on for hours. I’d say a few Cms are possible if you were under it for 4hrs+

Is the streamer likely to shift south at all? It looks like its fizzling out to me .Was a great day out there today not a massive amount of snow but just great being out in it

Snowing steadily in St Albans now and the MO radar suggests we could be in for an hour or so at the equivalalent rate of around 1mm/hour

Now I remember when I was a kid being told that an inch of snow is the equivalent (roughly) of a tenth of an inch of rain. Don't know how reliable that is but it begs a question.

So, need your help please guys!  Does anyone know what 1mm rain per hour would translate into in terms of snow mms?

Also a palace fan, used to live half hour walk from the stadium lol.

I used to go to Selhurst when they made it to the old 1st Division, when Gerry Queen was the "Man".

Palace legend Steve Kember, owned a Wine Bar down the road from where I worked, near the flyover in Croydon, just off the High Street.

Really showing my age now!! Lol.

In Weather related news, I don't think it's Snowing here in Lee, at the moment.

Regards,

Tom.  ❄️

Wind turns more NE through the night, I think that should push it down to us

All this event has proved to me is I need to get to the Alps next winter and see some proper snow. Or move to Scotland...Feeling very much like a snow starved Londoner at them moment.

I did that 6 years ago and never looked back. So disheartened by the lack of snow down south, we booked a weekend skiing in Scotland. Never skied before or seen that much snow! Immediately booked a week in Austria and have been skiing about 3 times a year ever since. It makes the disappointment of a south london winter that bit easier to bear. At least we have had a bit of lockdown snow, but still miss the mountains.
