Have seen several Twitter weather accounts quoting negative double figures across central parts of our region tomorrow night, including London.

Really? Thoughts?

So are there signs of a Thames streamer overnight or is this going down as the one of the worst easterly events for SW London in history?

Fine margins - deep cold level

and this could of been up there with 91 without the deep cold - but Darcy was the trigger low but seemed to aloft warm air as well to cap the shower activity as this had been a weak Thames Streamer

still some areas have totally max out in other sreas

Some of the heaviest snow here in East Hertfordshire of entire spell. Nothing dramatic but we seem in a streamer right now. It will probably drop further South I suspect.

Ignore me, I'm tired.

Seems these are predictions based on 20cm+ of snow cover across the region

For me the spell rates 7/10 for depth of cold and 3/10 for falling snow but only 1/10 for depth of snow. Hey ho. Still another day or so left for these to change.

Most models show light winds Wednesday night and -6 to -8 across the SE so it's plausible if places still have snow cover then. I doubt it for inner London as the snow cover is rather patchy!

According to the GFS models(which I take with a pinch of salt) it’s supposedly going to get milder next week.

I have my doubts on that, because I think that nearly all models try to default back to milder set, whatever information is fed into them.

They’re as about useful as a chocolate fireguard.

It's possible where significant snow still remains and with the wind falling much lighter.  The night is predicted to be largely clear, giving rapid radiation cooling.  London won't get that low, but rural areas, especially frost hollows, could see -10C.  It was -16.7C in northern Scotland last night and could be around that there again tonight.

Gardens and pavements covered again under light to moderate streamer. Can't complain given the general rubbishness of intensity over London today.

There does appear to be reasonable cross model consensus for the cold easing on Sunday.

There is still a bit of northern blocking around though, so I wouldn't rule out another cold snap between now and the early part of March .

Just checked the app... 3 hours' heavy snow between midnight and 3am, and another tonking between 6 and 9am... Will I stay up? Will I flock!
