Isn’t that the 12pm one? Isn’t meant to sink south till 3-4 I believe when winds turn NE? Shoot me if wrong tho.

It does yeah. I'd rather it earlier but can't pick and choose!

Cousin in Romford says it’s snowing with no accumulation

We need the likes of the heavy showers intensity from Lincs northwards or pushing into Scotland to get going down here.

The cooling effect of the wind can be seen here in Maidstone today.

From memory the sun nearly always melts south facing roofs and tarmac (especially in February) which today has been out nearly continuously since 11am. Today has only seen partial melting in these places and anywhere which is exposed is now dry.

So, all eyes on tomorrows convection and convergence. Where will that twig end up? Streamers are quite emotional on the quiet; you're either over the moon or bitterly disappointed!

The ups and downs of weather eh???

Ideally I'd want less of the snow melt during the day but let's hope it blinking happens first before I go all nitty picky.

That’s because the graphic/hourly break downs are 100% model data driven, i.e taking a snapshot of a single model run from a single model.

The text forecasts have human input & would have considered other variables besides a single run.

Why do the BBC even use the Meteogroup forecasts?

Understand they didn't renew MET office contract as too expensive.

If they saving money why didn't they go the full hog and just get their own presenters/forecasters to interpret the models and put their own graphics on.

What's left after today's sunny skies.

I can not walk down that, using next doors stairs.

Looks that way - can’t work out where the showers suggested by the Met will come from.

Convergence zone slightly further W

12z EURO4 shows it in pretty much the same position, gradually sinking south through the afternoon.

I rarely post but wanted to give my thoughts on this cold spell.

Here in Dollis Hill, north-west London, we've had snow falling constantly and in varying intensity for 60 hours. That's pretty rare and a first for me at the age of 36. We've had heavy bursts and some heavy showers today, but mainly it's been light and steady. Overall, ratings out of 10 would be:

Snow falling - 8
Snow settling - 6
Depth of cold - 6

One thing I learnt a long time ago is to tune out the hyperbole in the model thread. That way you avoid disappointment if things don't live up to expectation. This was never going to be a beast from the east; none of the experts predicted so. That said, for *many* right down the east side of the country it's been, and continues to be, a notable wintry spell. Overall I'd rank it just behind the 2018 BFTE. It proves, again, that winter can still deliver.

If you look on sat the moisture plume from above Holland, does seem to move away soon, but I think it will be replaced by one coming up from the south, not the front it's self, but above it. That may produce the moisture for showers to refire.

What a magical spell this is. Just had a small, perfect snow shower amongst the crisp blue skies with perfect 6 sider flakes falling. Looking like an organised streamer is forecast to come through here overnight too, replenishing any thaw!

Make the most and best of what you get folks. Might be another few years before another easterly like this! Hoping to be proven wrong of course.

Just typed in Ian McCaskill Feb 1991 into YouTube to give myself a fix of a forecast from a proper old school easterly that puts this tame affair (aside from the few locales that struck gold) to shame. Not just a regional but a national event. That was the stuff.

You need to look at the 600mb and 700mb Isotachs that might give you a clue a to where things might take shape. Where these winds converge will be clear to where the Twig as people call them takes shape. And anywhere over the warm SST's will create shower clouds at 10,000ft.

Certainly will not be clear here tonight but might be where your located as your a good 50-60 miles from where the convergence zone might set up.

Of course as the snow starts to dissipate it starts settling widely on all surfaces.
