This *might* be more relevant to the SW/CS thread, but thought I would bring it up here as well as it could be relevant.

Anyone noticing on the radar at the moment the areas of precipitation moving in a N/NW direction, ahead of the low moving into France? There's a light Cherbourg streamer, and another streamer in the English Channel south of East Sussex. Some of it is moving west or southwest, but some of it is moving north.

I wonder if this will be of relevance by tomorrow morning for parts of this region. (is this connected to what is going on in the Thames estuary?)

Had a few bresks in the cloud, but it has now clouded over again and gentle snow has started. slightly positive signs, but it's not bubbling with convection yet.

I think ECM 12z was drunk it forecast a min of -12C in Central London, Thursday morning which would be record breaking never seen such a cold forecast.

I noticed the Channel one too...and my first thought was 'what a waste of a nice looking streamer'

Winds still NE or NNE here, so if a streamer sets up via the Thames it will probably go south heading more towards Guildford and the Surrey Hills. Maybe even more south of that (although the North Downs may block the streamer from going too far south).

Maybe by morning with that low moving into N France the winds may go more E or ENE. This may in turn push whatever streamer sets up a little more north.

Geography is key to these streamers as well.

East Kent has done really well out of this North Easterly spell so far! Sure it's not the heaviest of snow, but atleast all the pathways and roads are covered

Yep same here, it's nice. Although snow on ice in the morning won't be.

This would suggest a possible lot of snow between now and then.

Hasn’t stopped snowing here since 9am Sunday morning, 12cm is some places average around 5-7 in others heavy snow coming down now recovering most ice and the roads, with more forecast tonight hopefully can push them up to 10-15cm

Might explain the band of snow, if we keep temps like that someone posted earlier

Looking at net weather radar that is a proper streamer setting up now

look at what’s coming into the estuary

that is a few hours of snow

Feel a bit uneasy with the holes in this band. I hope they fill in quickly.

Don't worry to much about that, it a convective band, it'll act like showers, though most of the time it's holding together.

Think that it might merge instead of breaking up

next hour will tell

I think it will too. Looks an interetesting night, for where ever the Thames streamer lines up, and here too. The showers coming into Dover seem to be getting a little stronger now.

Looks as though it’s streaming from the Thames through south of London down to Portsmouth

could be wrong though to early to tell

Sounds "Falling across London and Kent" really does make me think the ENE flow is playing its hand. Steady as she goes here south of the thames. Goodluck everyone
