whats happening in Essex - Romford to Tilbury

and Kent - Tonbridge to Tenterton

Convection firing over the last couple of frames of the radar.

Random or the start of something?

And is there more forecast for. Kent then?

Hopefully keep checking to your NE - These are initiating on the Dengie Peninsular where the Thames Snow Streamer usually starts and heads WSW

Yup - on the Dengie myself and whilst it has moderated a bit the snow shower just here was pretty heavy

Radar showing another formed behind

Interesting.  Quite an increase in intensity here over the last few minutes but the radar shows nothing!?

Some of it may well make it , though that is uncertain at this point of course. I think for us though it will be a case of having realistic expectations. Do I think we can get a dusting. Absolutely. Do i think we can squeeze a few cms out of it, possible. Do I see a big snow event for us. Not at all.

As for later this week, I reckon that the fronts will not get even within a couple of counties of us and they will decay long before reaching our neck of the woods. ICON tries but it is the only model even remotely close at the moment that I can see. This cold spell will go out one of two ways. It will either eventually morph into a SW with little to no snow due to the long SW fetch, or it will eventually evolve into either a cold dry high or another easterly. Hopefully its the latter but that has reduced in odds somewhat today.

So a small amount of snow tonight, maybe another small window for another small snowfall tomorrow night, and then probably dry and cold for the next 5-7 days.

Agreed!

Well, I really hope it's the latter. A morphing no-event SW with no snow would be an utter failure, imo.

I think the ECM model has put an extension of the cold back in the game, gathering by what I understood from the model thread earlier....fingers crossed.

I have never analysed a lamppost in as much detail as the last 48 hours.

I've been dating one, but it gave me a cold shoulder after 48hrs of hugging it.

No, you're correct, but I'm actually south of Chelmsford.  The next radar grab showed light precip but what was falling was quite heavy - gone light again now but still falling.

Missing out on all the decent snowfall, I can’t help but think of the raging thunderstorms northern France are going to get in the summer.

I think the GFS is wrong, I'm looking at quite a few decent shower heading east over Essex right now, by the Thames. If they band together the game is on, and it'll be decent.

Gutted to be working tonight, looks like some nice showers will be heading over my house, Mrs has said it has been on and off with maybe a couple of cms topped up.  Will Keep an eye on the ring doorbell Although the ENE wind looks to be blowing them near work too (by city airport) fingers crossed the intensity doesn’t die off, although would lead to a tricky drive home in the morning.
