Interestingly, the light snow/ snizzle has picked up in intensity inland across the region south of the Thames in the last half hour. Don’t mind that trend

Another garbage night. Snow showers always fizzle out after thetford. I’ve never seen it snow So lightly for so long whilst accumulating To nothing! Not sure what torment is worse - snow in cambridge or arsenal on a weekend!

As this band dies away hopefully we see an hour or two of clear skies edging in to allow temperatures to plummet.

I love nights like this! Waiting to see whether or not a Thames streamer fires into action, wind direction & depth of cold both look good for it and some high-res models are certainly suggesting the possibility too, somewhat surprised there isn't a Met Amber warning out, I guess that's mainly down to the uncertainty though, when these things go right they can deliver incredibly well.

I haven't had a chance to look at the models or forecasts, but having just got home, the wind seems to have switched to more of an ENE'ly, perfect conditions for a Thames streamer to form. Radar looking good in the Thames Estuary too. Is it just me?

This coming off the wash Matt ?

Seems to be coming more from north Norfolk rather than a convergence off the Wash. It looks a bit more hopeful for western parts of the region on the radar. Don’t expect much but possibly most might end up waking to a dusting of snow.

Exactly what I was hoping for. Nice!

The convection in the North Sea off the coast of Essex and Suffolk is quite meagre.

It can change in an instant with the right conditions and they seem to be almost there. Worth keeping an eye on the radar, things can change very quickly.

Need some more convection to start happening please, I guess we have a while for this streamer to set up. I might go to bed now and wake up early

Hammering it down in Crawley

I think tomorow will be a surprise to many.

Hammering?! I can cope with snow reports across the region when it’s Essex or Suffolk but not when it’s one mile away!

A good day for snow lovers in the Maidstone area, in fact, more has come down today!

Been very cold all day, where even snow settling between bricks or on car doors has stayed put; normally those melt a few hours after.

Had a couple hours of moderate snow this evening with bigger flakes and have at long last reached 5cm (the threshold for that amber warning).

Everything is now properly covered, so I can now sign this off as a complete and successful snow event ❄✅

Well hopefully when I get up a streamer has formed to surprise me. No doubt my snow body clock will ensure I wake up and check a few times during the night.

Not just me then?! These 4.00am check ins are killing me

Haven't seen the sun in 2 days, usually in a convective easterly you get some sunshine between the snow showers, that's something that's been a miss.

A lot of showers gathering out in the south North Sea, hopefully a good onen for later...

Yep that was lovely, and looking at radar perhaps a lot more behind it, hopefully it should pep up a bit.

I feel your pain. I’m even further west in St Neots and it’s so frustrating to see all the reports coming in of heavy settling snow, when we’re just getting pointless light flakes blowing around in the wind.
