Damm you must of hit a sweet spot of a streamer. Get out in it must be pure powder. Just a light covering here.

Rugby seems to be sat in a long narrow line of showers.

It’s obvious now this one isn’t for us, at least for today anyway.

However, the flurries and quick dustings blowing around do give a nice wintry feel to things.

Not too excited about the rest of this week and into the weekend as it stands. But I’ll keep checking in because we know how quickly things can change.

Glad to see some Midlanders caught under streamers.

Some of the snow does seem to melt and not just sublimate.

Sub zero temperatures and dew points, with dry powdery snow on cold ground after a cold night in mid winter, with little direct sunlight, and snow can still melt. Never makes sense.

Sure it's time of year, 6 weeks or so past the Sun's weakest point, higher in sky too, probably same as around 7th Nov

Gutted! Stopped now. Looks like I just miss out on the streamer that is heading for Leicester. I think the amber warning over me needs to be moved further south for you guys there! Enjoy - see I wasn't being greedy

About 2-3cm on the moors here in Biddulph and Mow Cop. 1cm lower down

Much prefer a polar north westerly

Sun is still weak in early February and with cloud cover. The same happened back in January albeit with wetter snow but colder ground.

Well that's that for the next couple of hours at least. Huge gap in Northeast Midlands and Lincolnshire.

Warnings are not forecasts. They warn about something that has the potential to happen.

The yellow warning area looks almost perfect for what is happening right now.

After small snow grains over the last hour, intensity has picked up and flakes much larger. This is looking more promising!! Looks like there is plenty more to come off the coast for the rest of the day too. Hopefully many more areas will see the action - I don't want to be greedy

Think the streamer heading for Leicester will only hit the southern side just looking at the radar. That's prob going to miss me by 7 or 8 miles. That's if it holds any intestity

Warnings these days:

Yellow warning = I can still see through my car window

Amber warning = Ok, I may need to use my wipers to knock off the snow

Red warning = Ok, Wipers are no good, I need to use a brush or scraper

Wheels slightly spinning when getting off the drive way = the world is going to implode

Snow will always melt in our climate if you have any bare patches on pavement road or roof. Even a weak sun will warm up the dark surface. If you get total slightly deeper cover you'll be okay but that's unlikely with the wind blowing it around.

So what are people's preferences a northerly with the chance of heavy but marginal snow. Or an Easterly with snow less marginal but much lighter unless you get lucky with a front pushing inland. So far 15cm from the North. Icing sugar from the East lol. Its going to have to go some to hit those euro4 targets.

Looks to me like the heaviest showers are too far north. Still plenty coming in off the North Sea but not seeing any streamers other than the one heading south east through the Wash.

The former for here. Definitely the latter when I lived in the South East.

At least this powdery snow is a different experience to the what we’ve had so far this winter.

A yellow warning is not required for a dusting of snow, which is what 90% of us in the warning area have.
