Just like a mini MCS, with the lightning and storms on the East and South East sides and a mass of heavy rain elsewhere.

Times like these i could really do with a rain gauge, just looking at some of the WOW station reports round here as the rainfall earlier was biblical for a time. Both stations in stourbridge reporting 30-32mm but wouldnt be surprised if it was more, as i was heading to birmingham i quickly turned back as the rain was awful around 7pm! But i think south birmingham and hockley/solihull area got possibly more as the torrential rain stalled over there for a little longer. WOW totals have reflected that, up to 50mm in the hardest hit spots.

Kinda needed as this month has been fairly dry to the west of birmingham otherwise, not sure where we're at compared to the june average. Possibly on 40mm or so here for the month as there has been some overnight rain at times.

I’ve had several hours now ....I’m at 61.3 mm, well over 2” and it’s still hammering it down, showing signs of moving away but also fizzling out.

Edit...FLOOD ALERTS from the environment agency

you can clearly see where the rains been falling ☔☔☔

It looks certain to be the driest June since 2018 here with just 25.2 mm recorded this month and not a lot more to come between now and the  end of the month by the look of it. Both of the last two Junes had over 100 mm of rain.

Frequent thunder west earlier then died out with 1 bang.

Then very quick developing shower south turned into an extreme band of torrential rain then it was quickly turned into a thunderstorm overhead dramatic stuff.

4 to 5.20pm thundery showers or thunderstorm.

Anybody watching the game outdoors may have a downpour or two, but the showers are moving Northeast, so by the time the game starts for western and central parts of our region things maybe okies ???????

Much improved today, thanks to not having to wait hours for the skies to clear. Warm (26.5 °C) and sunny pretty much throughout. I'll take that!

A very hot week ahead. Quite common to get one or two such spells per summer in my birth town in London but pretty extreme for up here.

Can’t enjoy it though. I’ve got COVID

A smidge too hot for my liking really, but looks much the same throughout the coming week. Being in central brum yesterday with copious amounts of concrete and people (but not at the same time) really jacked up the urban heat island effect yesterday. The fight to keep the bedroom cool by night begins well and truly! But i know i cant grumble, this is amazing summertime weather and feels like being on the continent

Topped out at 29.9 °C this afternoon, which is a bit annoying! It was a little too hot for me, but the big 3-0 would have been nice. Still, those charts above do suggest there'll be a few more chances before this spell is done!

Another perfect summer day, mostly sunny 28C, still 22C and comfy outside. Will never understand how people can hate this.

Topped out at 29.1 °C today. Doesn't look like a 30 is on the cards after all. Still very very warm, though. 20 °C as I type at almost 1 am.

There's been thunder rumbling away to the east of here for the last hour or so. Somewhere between here and Newark by the look of the Cb towers.
