Got something white falling here too. Think it's just hail though really. Came down very heavy a few moments ago and is starting to intensify again now.

Yes soft hail can easily be seen as snowfall.  Temps are around 7c and in a heavy down fall/intensity cold get dragged down in which when Nobble was stating snowfall it was sleety as the radar was showing that at the time.

It was a brief flurry after the hail passed through , 

temp in car shown 7 deg once hail passed through went down too 2.5 deg  

and it was definitely snow allthough brief ! 
Was surprising to see I suppose nearly 600ft elevation. Helped

Dosen't have to be as cold to snow in March and April, those temps would never give snow Dec to Feb

It's because dew points tend to be much lower in spring, particularly in polar maritime air. A low dew point means that snow flakes aloft can reach the surface intact, or at least partially melted, when the air temperature on the thermometer is well above freezing. Also, during heavy  showers, cold air from above is dragged down to the surface by heavy precipitation and this, combined with a low dew point, also aids the survival of snowflakes on their journey down.

Thanks TM, I’d sort of guessed all that, you made that very clear to all why this is the case and makes complete sense ( we’ll said ) but isn't it maddening when you think we can have temps as low as 1.0c and dew points of 0.2c and it’s just plain old freezing rain.....we’ve all been there...Grrrr

The first really decent day in ages here, mostly because the wind finally dropped appreciably. A bit more sun than I'd been expecting, and at this time of year even 12.5 °C feels very pleasant in the sun and out of the wind. Plus you can sit out in the sun for a while with no risk of burning just yet! I'd be more than happy with a week or so of this, though in reality it's likely to be a bit chillier and cloudier after about Wednesday. C'est la vie.

Had my first really long walk over the canals this morning. 

What a state they are in, been a very wet winter but I guess all the lockdown walking has added to the mess.

Hopefully weeks of dry weather will sort them out.

The forecast sun hasn't come today (as yet) though

A warmer day on the thermometer today (max 15.4 °C) and with a fair amount of hazy sunshine. However, that nagging NW wind has returned and that really does take the edge off things if you're exposed to it. Very good walking weather, but not such good relaxing-on-a-bench weather! I must admit I've had my fill of windy days for a while now. A couple of weeks of quieter conditions, even if temps aren't above average, would do me just fine. We need the dry weather above all, though, as the Severn in Bewdley is still pretty high.

Grim morning after a grim couple of days, with a grim forecast.

Is any spring like weather in any forecast at all?

It has been grim all week in Northants.

Drove up from a grey for last 4 days Midland to help mum in Blackpool. Roads were back to normal levels all the way up.

As I came into the resort, I could see a sliver of clear sky over the sea so stopped on the prom. Wales, the Lake District, Iske of Man all clearer than I have ever seen them before.

Then the sun slipped from cloud to sea for 3 minutes. Truly magical light.

Unexpectedly windy here yesterday evening with several gusts over 45 mph from the NW between 1800 and 1930 and one of 48 mph at 1903. The wind quickly decreased towards midnight and this morning it's nothing more than a gentle NE breeze.

Not much to say about the weather locally recently. Yesterday was a real disappointment: the MetO forecast the night before suggested plenty of sunshine and we got almost none, making it very chilly. A bit better today with a little brightness, and reasonable walking weather, but still nothing to write home about. A far cry from last spring, though at least it's not terrible. Would be nice to get a taste of actual spring warmth before the middle of April, though!

Tuesday is forecasted to see our first 20+

Then by the end of next week we maybe seeing 5 to 6c maxes
