I’m surprised you say that. I thought 2012-13 was a really good winter with snowfalls in Jan, Feb and March. January and March especially were really good.

and then the 2017-18 winter was really good too.

Overall, I think this has been a good winter with potentially more to come

To be fair, i wasnt living in the country 2017-18 so i cant personally vouch for that. 2012-13 wasnt too bad from what i remember, that easterly with constant snow showers was pretty special but i cant remember it in great detail. So really, my comment isnt backed up with lots of meteorological validity, just from the top of my head really

Still below freezing outside, despite the Birdbath being in full sunlight all day it's STILL frozen solid!Gotta go out in a bit to pick up my mother's prescription, not looking forward to it at all considering how windy it is here, probably gonna feel like -5 or lower out there!

Not just that. The first front that would have brought snow just fizzled out further west.

Have to hope should we get anymore cold spells - certainly plenty of time for further opportunities, they can go out in more of a bang

I have family in Perth in Oz, so in the summers they get so bored with the temps and humidity with it being so constant for months, so they are so envious of how back in the UK how changeable it is....just like tomorrow and by Monday it’s double figures

Currently -2.3 °C here. A shame we have no remaining snow cover, otherwise it could have been seriously cold tonight. As it is, I'm expecting -4 or -5 at the lowest. Then tomorrow one more really cold day before the "mildening" sets in. I know not everyone wants this, but as long as there's some sun I'll be delighted to see double figure temps. No, I'm not keen on grey murk and 10 °C, but sunshine and showers with that temperature will feel like an early taste of spring. And yes, right now I would prefer that to more cold, at least unless the cold was accompanied by more than a couple of flakes of snow!

Lovely day today walking in the country. Nice firm fields instead of the mudbath they had become, even those adjacent to the rivers that had recently flooded.

Wind was raw when stopped but not too bad when walking. Sun was out most of the day and it was perfect walking weather.

Down to -4c already, which is colder than Wednesday.

-3.7C here. Absolutely Baltic in that wind. Possibly one of the coldest winds I've felt.

-3 and no visible frost. Dew point -10!!

The air coming from mainland Europe atm is very dry and certainly very cold, so no moisture = no frost

Around -3’C here. Amazing how the light breeze manages to stop a frost developing.

Nice and balmy then, got a lovely -4.5 here

In October when at times we can have overnight frosts and also can have day time temps in single figures, we don’t start saying “Winter has arrived”

So just because we will be suddenly going from 0c to 11c or 12c people start saying.... “the arrival of spring is here”......is beyond me

Every year at this time when the first springlike spell arrives, I grumble and moan because I want cold and snow.

Then it arrives...and I step outside...and then suddenly remember how nice it feels!

And then I don’t want a return to winter.

But then sometimes it does...and I get excited about cold and snow again!

Never mind the weather, my mental attitude’s transition from Winter to Spring is a bumpy one!

Then the first thunderhead appears in the sky in April/May and my brain settles again.
