Yes there saying it could be the coldest UK night since the legendary 2010 spell

-8’C in the concrete oven of London is quite something!

Fairly decent snow shower recently broke through (looks like it was lighter a few miles further West towards the Town Centre), which managed to put down a patchy dusting over a few surfaces. Snow shower rating 7/10. Just lacking dense 50p flakes, but still quite a good effort and the back-edge came down heavy

Been lurking on here for a bit and thought I'd find my old login to say hi!

It's been a frustrating few days in Stoke as the others have said, especially when my home town of Macclesfield got plastered yesterday!

Managed to get out to Consall this morning though, which was a winter wonderland even if the snow was on the sparse side

First shower of the day (i don't think this has been the East/West thing that it was thought it would be) just now and, possibly, the heaviest of the period. Magic to see the skies darken, and proper dry snow come belting out of the sky, instantly settling on the cold ground. Hard frost all day really, very little melt. And tonight will be the hardest frost probably of the winter which i'm excited about. A real winters day in the best week of the season in the Belper area (we had more snow the other week, which was great, but it was pretty marginal aside from one day apart from on high ground). A whole week of what i would consider to be seasonal conditions in February has been very rare in recent years (even decades). Love it.

Had to laugh at the projected radar for 19:45, if this came off I’d be building igloos

any chance of more snow showers tonight from the North Sea, or is that it?

Never say never,  but the forecast is for winds to fall light and for skies to clear with a severe frost UK wide

My skies are clear right now, I came in from work an hour ago and my temps were 0.3c and now it’s -0.9c, so they are falling fast

Projected radars are useless I never take any notice of them, as they're wrong 95% of the time.

Just waiting for this band of showers to collapse and evaporate as they cross the limits of Stoke

Would be a nice covering before tonight's frost if they hold together!

Watching the cloud approaching. Every shower today has missed me by less than a mile or died on my doorstep.

The story of this week! I blame it on me being on annual leave. When we had all that snow earlier on in the winter I was on nights and missed it all then..

Been under those showers for several minutes and seen zero snowflakes. Thrilling stuff.

In fact, I can actually see a hole opening in the cloud over me.

Snowing in the distance yet again. About the 10th time today it’s done that.

I give up with today.

Would be great if it came off, just this once Looks like the showers are starting to fizzle away now I think this is nearing the end of snow potential now for this cold spell. All in all, it has been decent for a large part of the Midlands. An overnight sugar dusting here on Sunday and Monday night was the best we had. Did also catch a shower this morning which gave is another dusting, shame it melted by noon though

Did you not hear? The Stoke snow shield is now back and running at 100% power. It was in for repairs for a few weeks previous, but i'm afraid they found the part needed, and it's been fixed
