I guess if we are to see an end to this cold spell, that wouldn’t be the worst finish. Although the GFS does eventually turn it to rain.

Ditto. Just occasional showers while streamers have constantly passed just a few miles to my south.

You watch every single shower pivot at once in the wind, and just keep us in the gap

Wow...

Changing to the South?

Thats a very positive sign for some sort of disturbance in the Wash

Is it just me or do those 2 streamers North & south of Stoke seem to be gradually getting closer together and almost filling in? Probably wishful thinking!

That band to the north of us does seem to be slowly sinking southwards??? and the gap between seems to be narrowing and beginning to fill in over to the east.

Looks like it? Just hope they keep coming in. And now fizzling out as they get more inland.

Solihull looks in like for some

Here in Solihull since mid morning we have been just south of the streamer going straight past N Bham, and out into Wales..

Lovely sunny afternoon here!!

However we have had enough of that....Come on Wash - do your stuff and send it further south.

Maybe. Looks like a few light flurries heading in here in the mean time. Doesn’t look like much.

Its covered everything, very fine snow like icing sugar not slush. Quite a high snow depth/precip ratio so a few of these showers would probably redeem this spell

Yep it's not quite 54 hours of snow, but given the let downs of the last couple of days this is a great surprise.  Direct hit again here and some surprisingly big flakes, up to 2cm now.

This is a prime example of how useless the models PPN charts are in an Easterly like this.

GFS and HIRLAM are way off the mark right now. Compare their PPN charts to the actual current radar. Noticr Northampton in the dry slot in the middle of it all, AGAIN Incredible scenes.

High resolution models called this well for tonight. They all showed the showers increasing tonight. Guessing it’s that convergence zone near the Wash.

Edit: Timed this well with @andy_leics22 comment

A much crisper feel outside tonight with the ground going hard for the first time so far during this cold spell. It does feel much more raw although the wind speeds dropped, what wind does blow about was bitter combined with the air feeling colder. A few flurries of snow in the air but looks like todays streamer has been too far north. Would be nice for another covering for tomorrow if possible!
