Here in N Worcs there was a dusting overnight, which has mostly evaporated now. Occasional showers of very small flakes, but that's all. Nothing remotely approaching another dusting, let alone a covering. We look to be in between two streamers here, and that's how it goes sometimes. Not too upset though as my hopes weren't that high for this far west. Currently 1.3 °C.

Unless you enjoy dandruff, then 95%+ of what you are missing isn't worth looking at out of the window.

I think the any snow melt is honestly down to the sun's strength. We are ~7 weeks from the shortest day of the year and solar radiation has increased by roughly 15%. These small margins make a difference when you aren't really seeing much snow at all. You wouldn't notice it if you had a dumping.

It was the same here in early January.

Had a sugar dusting overnight and now we've been sitting in a gap in the PPN for hours The Northampton snow shield is operating at full power.

At least it’s not been bone dry and slate grey stratus covered skies across the entire region like some made it out it would be

We are right in the middle of all the streams so far. They are going above and below us. I’m guessing somewhere is getting the amber warning snow, we are just the unlucky guys in the middle of them. Ha ha. It’s snowing here now, but looks like just a short blast according to the radar.

Yorkshire and Lincolnshire suffering just as much as us, most cant get more than a dusting because the sun undoes all the work from the showers. Amber warning looking silly now.

Yep in a sandwich how unlucky is that. But those Radars do have wiggle room so could still hit us.

The ground really isn’t freezing up hard enough during this easterly. Another effect of the source of the easterly being less cold? On my dog walk this morning, there was still too much squishy mud and the snow is struggling settling and staying.

And during the big event in the southeast yesterday, it took an age for the snow to start settling it seems.

In our snow events earlier in the winter, the ground was primed and ready to go. In 2018, we already had some harsh frosts leading up to the easterly proper.

The parameters are a little bit Swiss Cheese this time it seems.

Why the Amber warning ??? Nothing to shout about here Mansfield

The warnings have been a professional joke since they failed to deal with the slider a few Sunday's back.

Even then, they added an amber warning when the event had all but ended.
