I think this is associated with a developing area of snow which was leaving Amsterdam at about 18:00 hours, which people in Holland reported was intensifying and heading straight for the Wash as the strong easterly winds were blowing it westward, although it was moving North. It appeared to be injecting moisture into the easterly flow, which helped create the  streamers on its way to the UK. I assume that is what the BBC had picked up on.

It can be seen on the Sat 24 radar infrared satellite images of Europe, Clouds in Europe at night and in the evening.

I would take any snow depth forecasts with a pinch of salt. No model truly knows the exact location of where streamers and showers will be It's now down to radar and window watching.

It’s gonna be exciting though in the morning seeing where’s had a covering, and where looks in the firing line! As you say, total lottery

Let’s hope that run is wrong and the models are underestimating the showers getting over the hills (Although I fear not)

Full chart.

I would take them charts with a little caution and not get your hopes off, it it comes off great but if we miss a streamer you can see either side of the blob is much less snow depth

Yep plenty of snow about for the entire Eastern side of the country. Keep trying to work back from the coast where we get our precipitation from. Think its about Skengness for Leicester

The fact the really light precipitation is now surviving and reaches me bodes well for some of the proper, heavier showers making it over the hills.

Currently snowing very lightly.

Why does the radar really start to come to life at bed time?

Lets see what the morning brings (Although I’ll probably be up a few times in the night to check things).

Good luck, everyone!

Now, i'm not saying this to be boastful and blow my own trumpet, just as a reminder to 'never say never' until the event is over.

A few days ago, quite a few in here were downbeat and talking about how dry this whole event would be for the Midlands areas. Myself and a few others were talking about how showers and streamers can come in off the East coast in an Easterly and that the models weren't great at forecasting this.

Now look at the radar! Looks awesome for quite a few people so let that be a lesson, NEVER think it's over, until it's over

EDIT: WE HAVE SNOW FLURRIES!!! YESSSS We have caught the edge of a rogue shower, get in

Still nothing here, despite having been under darkish blue for about 2 hours on the radar.

Is there anything falling out the sky or on the ground?

Still snowing here but not sticking at all.  How is it not sticking, day time temps have been around 1C, currently just below 0C and dp's are at -3.5.
