Its been absolutely miserable this whole season, very much fed up with it all! Bigger fish to fry anyway, at least the prospect of snow gives some cheer

Fax charts are delicious for the north midland for the next 3 days!!!think nottingham could cop it hard!!!

Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire are my picks to be the sweet spots

I would say the whole Midlands by Wednesday should see between 5 to 15cm. Looks awesome for your area mate.

A lot of things make it look very good for here but it’s just those damn hills that make me full of doubt. I’ve seen them destroy precipitation so many times. If they weren’t there, I’d add Stoke-on-Trent to the sweet spot list.

We’ll see. It’s going to come down to radar watching. Can’t really even nowcast because those hills are so close to here (yet not close enough to visit for a snowy walk).

Birmingham can be really naff in easterlies. The long-land track doesn't help in direct easterlies as East Anglia adds just that little bit more land. The Wash can help the West Midlands providing the wind direction is more ENE...which will be the case for a time.

Not expecting much here, so if anything does crop up, it's better than anticipated.

To be honest, I'd rather be 100 miles from snow than literally a few miles. I'd be pi55ed if I was on the yellow line!

My family and friends are just a few miles to the west of that and I told them they’d get significant snow. This could get embarrassing

Yh the North Sea is literally a snow maker warm seas mixing with cold air will bring streamer after streamer. Somewhere could cop over 30cm if they get stuck under a constant streamer. Good luck mate

Oh, is that a slightly heavier shower making its way through the wash? A bit more moisture being pumped into the southern North Sea perhaps?

Another met office app upgrade, starts at 12am tonight instead of 8am and now 40 hours of snow until Tuesday evening. Even half of that would be special.

I remember from past such events that all the showers coming off the North Sea look pretty weak and naff at first. Takes a while the proper beefy showers to start developing. I think it’s as ever increasingly cold air moves across.

This does have the feel of some of the classic easterlies of the past. They always started with the lightest flurries, leaden skies, and a biting wind.

You can feel the chill embedding in now.

Let’s hope the position of these  streamers vary enough during Mon to Wed to give every part of the Midlands accumulation. ??

But for once this winter the East Mids is favoured over the west.
