That was a nice chunky shower, we're up to an inch now. I’m satisfied as everything is nice and white at least.

    Me too mate!!

Felt a bit deflated yesterday but overnight we must of hit a few showers...

    Couple of cm now...

I had to get out before the sun melted it all.

Some brilliant walking conditions this morning apart from the sheer depth of snow, almost a foot fell here last night and not a Met O warning in site. made for some good photographs though, altho

Heaviest single fall of snow for several years here and the heaviest in April since 1981.

Pretty much sums up this winter that the streamers have set up to the north and south of me and the breakdown won’t reach me. Can’t buy more than a dusting this year.

Well to me I can see 12 hours of snow on GFS for Sunday morning. Yes a little marginal aloft but with all that surface cold it should be fine.
that’s after 6 hours on Saturday with no marginality.

Thanks, it's tough going that's for sure. We'll be moving inland eventually, can't cope with how poor it's become especially the last 10 years. As a kid I remember my dad's pond freezing thick with ice nearly every year but not anymore. You are in a prime spot now, 1 extreme to the other 👍.

Yeh, it's worth moving to get a bit more of the weather you want! I always want more though - I'm 197m now...and I drive up to 450 m down the road and it's a different world...I want to move higher haha!

Looks like no break down event which is a shame

Keeps the cold in so I can live with that.

All eyes on the weekend then?

A dusting here, can't complain, it's been a stunning sunrise.

I can see it retreating. Metoffice extended keeps things cold with potential for milder interludes in the South and West at times so this of course brings the possibility of snow during any breakdown, but I'd definitely take many more mornings like this.

We've had a light dusting this morning in the early hours I think; hard frost too... -2ºC here and clear skies, but clouds looming in the distance, not sure if they're due our way though!

Does anyone have an idea of how accurate this is:

Snowfall forecast charts for Great Britain derived from the high resolution GFS and GEFS model. Deterministic and ensemble available.

It's looking like the NW could be in for some heavy snow at the weekend if it stays on course...

Weekend actually looks amazing. It’s actually only marginal for the Crosby grid square but for my grid square it’s not until Monday morning.

Yup. Same here. Was hoping we had a better shout today but it appears not. Family in KO have had a fair bit and they're only a few miles away. Story of this winter so far!

Added a air frost in progress duration counter feature to the automatic tweets. Actually quite hard to do in JavaScript.

South easterly kills it for this side of the region

A definite shame if so - this would have been the main event for most of the NW...

    GFS possibly Sat Sun.

Waiting on the 06z coming out - better than chasing snizzle.

If something decent doesn't come from the W with all this cold in place we might as well give up 😑

Got lucky this morning with the showers. Now the wind has dropped the snowflakes are much bigger than yesterday's bits of fluff.

Thu - Fri retreats and fizzes out.

What do you think about Sat  - Sun?

Be careful getting excited mate, I've lost count this Winter of day 4 or 5 amazing snowfalls in charts. If it's still there after Thursday's 12z's then I'll be interested, as this is turning into an extremely frustrating Winter.

Nice day for a walk though 👍
