Speaking of which there’s a biggish shower about to hit east Manchester.

This is the area that could have a covering by morning I think, that little shower at the tip of Wirral covered the cars & was just about to cover roads before moving away.

Moderate snow blowing around, looks like it's giving a covering now (if it doesn't blow away in the wind)

Jeez I miss living in Edinburgh. Check out the radar up there!

Bloody hell nice!

On a positive, even though those beefy showers would be amazing, we won't need much to gain a proper cover as the one just past hasn't melted one bit, quite impressive for the coast.

True. It really does feel bitter out there now.

Snow about to hit coming from NE Mcr? Looking like a small streamer lasting about 20 min

Hmmm sadly they are dying very quickly as soon as they reach east Manchester. Just look at what happens to this latest one as it crosses past Hadfield/Glossop. But that shower has just started giving light snow again here. Looks nice.

Snowing and settling here in Audenshaw, east Manchester. Only a dusting but better than nothing.

At this point I'm more interested in how thick the ice can get on the canal I overlook with consecutive sub-zero minima. I'd wager that central Manchester is not getting any lying snow this week.

Edit: this precipitation shadow is incredibly well-modelled I might add (ARPEGE and ICON especially)

Time to call it a night, showers appear to be dying off. What will be will be, cars are still white though nice to see. The elusive cm still remains just that, here's hoping for tonight or tomorrow or Wednesday or Thursday..........

I used to live in St George’s Island if you know it. I liked living in Castlefield, terrible for snow though.

You’re right there definitely is a shadow effect going on with these showers under the ENE’ly. The last one was really really healthy until it got to Denton, it died on its northern flank rapidly but it stayed intact further south away from the city itself. The Pennines are killing these showers, but not everywhere - they are specifically fragmenting rapidly just west of Glossop.
