Yes it's barely dropping indoors by night here and I'm surrounded by open fields so it must be vile in more urban locations in Greater Manchester. 28C upstairs right now. And by morning time it only seems to drop by a degree or two even with the windows open all night. Wouldn't like to have a loft bedroom in this weather as you could easily add another couple of celsius.

In the battle of the bedroom heat, ours was still 32c when it went dark last night but we seem to manage that at some stage most summers.

window wide open and lying on the top of the covers helps but still uncomfortable for a decent nights sleep.

Could see the tops of the CBs to the E and SE from here. They were miles and miles away!

Another hot day here (well I consider it hot) with the temp maxing out again at 26°C (80°F in old money), so while quite as hot as other parts of the region is still pretty hot.

The indoor temp has been 25/26°C which is massive for round here, alough I’ve been able to sleep okay and kept cool enough by going shirtless around the house.

It has actually felt a bit more comfortable today due to a bit more breeze and slightly lower humidity with a minimum of 44%, yesterday it stayed above 50%. Today felt more like a day in July 2018 with the 26°C max, unbroken sunshine, low humidity and gentle easterly breeze.

A couple of more hot days to get through, with 27°C forecast on Wednesday and 28°C forecast on Thursday, before cooling down to 23°C on Friday and down to 20°C (average) with rain/showers over the weekend.

After that that it looks to be back to normal, 19/20°C, with a mix of cloud, sunshine and showers, and a more mobile westerly flow.

A bit better chance of thunderstorms tomorrow across our region but nothing widespread. But if you do catch one boy you'll know about it. As for tonight it's slightly cooler than last night currently a bone chilling 17.5C compared with 20C at the same time last night.

Nothing on mine.

Usually when it puts the symbol up, it never happens so I think I have more chance than you.

Another hot day today, blue sky and sunshine, currently 25C, though a few cumulus clouds strating to bubble up. Hopefully they'll turn into cumulimbus clouds and give us some thunder and a much needed downpour. Grass starting to go a slightlybrown now.

It seems to always be the same story, we have a prolonged bit of lovely warm weather, gets announced as a heatwave, then it dies off a day or 2 later lol See there's a huge Yellow warning for rain for South of the region and the rest of the UK

Looks like we'll get some of the rain, but no storms

29c & sunshine sometimes turning a touch hazy much of the day here in S Cheshire. Feels like temperatures the hottest of this spell so far 32-33c with increased humidity. Looking likely to reach 30c tomorrow, a warm but more pleasant day Friday 24/25c  before much fresher weather with some rain moves in weekend onwards.Sadly not looking great on the storms front for us but boy weren’t we spoilt with storms last year. June & the August hot spell breakdown served up some fantastic storms from memory. My thoughts are for a fresher start to August before more settled and warmer conditions arrive mid month but we shall see.

Current temp 27.5 degrees. Highest of year so far and a major thunder cell has popped up just to our north. Credit to BBC who showed likely development. Will it continue to build and drop rain here.m no thunder heard yet..  but wind has picked up.

Yes a bit of welcome relief as the sun has now disappeared. This should hopefully reduce the house temp by a degree or two if it stays cloudy.

I’ve done a tour of the Lakes through work today visiting Cockermouth, Workington, Millan and Ulverston. You could see the cloud instability bubbling up early afternoon and some stunning views.

Breached 28 degrees past hour. Radar shows precipitation overhead, red colours..nothing falling from the sky though!

Edit - a few raindrops are falling but it's an odd shower.. not quite going. Just on the edge of it. No thunder. Looks like it will be gone 10 mins..

Cumulimbus!

Can heat some distant rumbles, gradually getting louder, getting excited now!

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
