No way in a million years that reading of 30C at Liverpool Airport is correct in a NW wind...

That station is always far too high these days.

30C now reached at Liverpool Airport.

No chance this is accurate- no stations close by are anywhere near this. Liverpool Airport has been recording very suspicious readings for months now.

The east of the region is actually warmer today than the west.

Maxed out at 28.3C here, now currently 27C. Easily the hottest day here since last August!

On the other hand it's been a comfortable 21C at St Bees Head on the Cumbrian Coast. Nearly always the coolest place in summer in our region, esspecially for daytime temperatures. I wish I lived there! Beuatiful place too. Nothing too hot next week there either.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Irish Sea, Northern Ireland has beaten it's old temperature record.

27C upstairs in bedrooms despite curtains drawn and windows shut. Restless night ahead so going to sleep on the sofa as it's a bit cooler down here. I say it ever year but if we're going to get persistent very warm weather most years because of climate change then I'm going to get a portable air con unit. Then again I'd get crucified for using it through it's energy use. Shhhh don't tell anyone.

Cooling off now in East Lancs, currently 22.8C with 61% humdity and feeling very pleasant outside now. I suppose becuase it feels a lot cooler in comparison to the 27C I had earlier. Bedroom temp now 25.7C, the highest I've seen it since 25th July 2019, the hottest day on record.

Bought one of those little USB fans off Amazon that you can plug into your laptop/PC.

Interesting that even a summer like 76, 95 or 03 couldn't set a record that a pretty ordinary summer synoptic setup has created.
I think it's pretty clear that an identical day in 2021, in summer, will enable a temperature possibly 2C higher than 40 years ago and 1C than 20 years ago.

Easily warmest day of the year so far here. Max 27 degrees. Cooled off quite rapidly once sun went down. A very decent warm 7 day spell now set in.

Back to N Ireland record. Very surprised how this has been achieved under current synoptics nothing extreme about them and the heat hasnt had time to establish. Why has it occured?

More cloud around than yesterday but still very warm. Current temp 25.5 degrees. Not to be sniffed at here in the Lake District. Whether we reach 27 degrees same as yesterday I'm not sure.. alas looks like we have a run of 7 days of maxima 25 degrees or more.. last time achieved this was July 2018, not long ago, but feels it!

A bit more cloud starting to develop here, yesterday was sunny all day. It would be a shame to not get a decent thunderstorm out of this spell. Hopefully we will at some point this week as the heat builds some instability.

Probably a few degrees higher than I would prefer, but anything above 30 is not my idea of fun.  Would like 22-25c and a nice breeze every day of the week, but sadly the weather gods don't dance to our tune.  Humidity will probably rise at the weekend, if the forecasted thunder showers make an appearance.

Surely the weather forecasters at Liverpool Airport must know their station has gone doolally?

I’m going doolally in this heat.

Last night was pretty clammy even on top of the bed covers.
