Still don’t think April 81 is under threat but after a winter of downgrades, this is without a doubt the most unexpected snowfall of recent times.

Looks like you're on a roll tonight!

Woke up about 3:30am for a visit to the bathroom, huge snow flakes were falling but the ground was wet.  Had a covering of snow a few metres above town.  The photos don't do it justice, zoom not brilliant on my tablet and there's a slight mist.

I had to get out before the sun melted it all.

Don’t blame you, it looks stunning at the moment but as soon as the sun gets to work, it will soon turn into a slushy mess.

Impressive to see snow lying so easily in April. Looking at the models as well there are hints it may not be the last snow event of this "Spring" and there maybe further potential reloads of wintry weather for the foreseeable future. There is a trend recently to reintroduce a northerly theme on some models around 168 hours. With frequently frosty nights coming up and consistently below average temperatures by day, spring is on hold for now and may well be for the foreseeable future? ?‍♂️

Yet another air frost last night, easily down to -3 degrees, many a winter month has failed to deliver the number of air frosts we've has this month and we're only 11 days in!

Yes a surprise snowfall for many yesterday, not forecast! Would have been classed heaviest in quite a number of winters! This is turning into a significant cold spell for April.

Some amazing Narnia like scenes overnight with decent falls of snow especially in the hilly areas.  Glad to be up earlier to witness the glory of it all, because snowy areas exposed to the sun will make it a distant memory by this afternoon.

Yes, and beer gardens open tomorrow, what's it to be, a hot toddy or an ice cold pint of lager?  Some stunning photos this morning, thank you peeps.

Going to be rather cold tomorrow but at least no frontal heavy rain or strong winds.

Outlook remains mostly dry. The Lake District is firmly in it's annual dry season..April typically driest month of the year here. Had yesterday's or even today's weather happened tomorrow the tabloids would have has field day, people sitting outside with the snow falling!

Fascinating mismatch of sun and snow you don't often see. Not the usual sodden slushy mess of midwinter.

Lovely to see snow here in April and a real bonus for me having spent the winter in warmer countries.
