Looked down fields at edge of dark.  They were flooded this morning.  Subsided somewhat by mid afternoon.  Then back again after heavy lashing  rain last 3 hrs.  Really is grim out there and this weekend's downpours will have has set work on farmland and gardens back a fortnight, even with the forecasted drier spell.    Any farmers midst lambing will having a hard time just now.

Today gets a 0 out of 10, one of the worst of the year so far, relentless rain, grey skies, temps no higher than 10 degrees.

Lake District has been a magnet for rain today, pulse after pulse, right now another pulse radar showing reds again... SW airstreams really are the pits!

It'll be interesting to see the totals from Seathwaite /Honister etc. 62mm here, rain has been lashing the windows for the entire day.

Yes possibly 100mm plus. Localised flooding.

Putting aside what may happen through the weekend into next week it is a beautiful morning here with sunny intervals there is a slight breeze but temperature is currently 15c.

Dodged the worst yesterday - only 24.6mm picked up this morning for previous 24hrs. So that's 55.7 mm for the two day's weekend rain event.

Lake District suffered far more -- incredible totals just for yesterday.

Yes, it does seem surprising that, unlike areas of Scotland, there is no yellow weather warning in place for the Lakes, particularly the North Lakes. However, from the above table, there does seem to be considerable variations in rainfall totals within the Lake District, and it may be that the authorities do not regard high rainfall totals at Honister or Seathwaite as being particularly unusual or potentially harmful to life or property compared (say) to similar totals at Cockermouth or Whitehaven.

Got up to bang on 15C here, noticed that some eastern areas have hit 20C such as Humberside and Bridlington. The foehn effect kicking in with the SW wind. A bit more of a southerly here tomorrow so we should reach close to that.

Hard to work out the stations, but 180mm in 48 hrs for Seathwaite despite being wettest place in England is impressive still. I think we had 100mm but hey its the lakes they always have rain.. no yellow weather warning needed.. had even half of the amount forecast for more populous parts then yellow straight away, probably an amber..

Should have been a warning.

Another drab day, no sun, low cloud, temp 11 degrees.. hoping for some sun tomorrow.

Buxton got to 15.5'c earlier on today although out in the exposed gusts (averaging 40mph on the tops) the temperature significantly dropped off, once we got the gusts moved away and the skies cleared-up from the mid-morning murk it felt almost summer-like outside.

Pretty impressive ens charts. Looking like the coldest April cold snap since at least 2012 or 2013. Maybe even longer than that....1998? Mean maximums not much above 5C from the 5th, in the cold northerly it will probably feel sub zero at times. We did have a brief light covering of snow at the back end of April 2016 which soon got zapped by the sun so not entirely unusual I guess.

Overcast skies this morning, but shade of something whiter to my SE, hoping all will turn whiter shade of grey and a clearance at some point this afternoon, sun looks like it wants to punch through, otherwise we are not going to see any benefits from this 'warmer spell' before cold comes back.

Hazy blue skies, 3 hours gardening, sun feeling stronger... washing hung out, pork in oven to shred for later to make bao buns (Jamie’s recipe), charging clippers for 9th round of lockdown haircuts tomorrow.... thermometer sitting pretty at 19c

Often forgotten was the very short blast on  8th April 2005. Remember the showers erupting with snow and soft hail that day.

Lovely outside at the moment, maybe lovely next Tuesday with blue skies just a lot colder!

A little over 19'c here today with blue skies and excellent visibility, I even noticed the the first Butterflies of the year (Red Admirals) were fluttering about which I think from-memory is the earliest i've seen them. Definitely needed the sun-cream for any length of time outside today as even with SPF30 I was beginning to feel the first effects of the UV rays.

19.7C the high so far here. Not bad at all and feels pleasant in the sun. Warmest March day since 2012. Looks like we'll be following a similar path this time round too - warm end to March but chilly into April.
