Everyone with me then on marginal NW showers being the best source of snow!

I've no idea, I'm just sitting here laughing my head off at the last several pages of ups, downs, moans & groans over this white fluffy stuff that falls from the sky! And after about 3 days the biggest depth anyone has is about 5mm ?

I have to say we ended up getting at least 7mm

Clear skies here at the moment but I can see cloud edging in from the East, hoping it brings some snow as the last little scraps we had is still on the ground so it's definitely the right conditions to stick

Every now and then I glance up at Scotland's showers and it just makes our snow chase utterly pathetic.

Nothing except the lightest of light snow flurries so far for SW Manchester and I'm not optimistic about worthwhile "breakdown" snow.

I think the best opportunity is going to be overnight tonight and through tomorrow morning from more organised bands of showers.

We've been saying that for 3 days

Not for here, we need a straight westerly but I agree with marginal and from that general direction.

One thing I have learned over the last few weeks is that we struggle to get snow from any direction whilst other regions struggle to miss it from any direction

This time we do see a big increase in lapse rates giving the opportunity for deeper convection though so you never know.

The flow tonight is coming from about 80° at 850 mb, backing 60° tomorrow.

I’m mildly interested in the radar just now, only because there is a proper line coming out of Hull, not a streamer as such, but few gaps in between. They may fizzle and not come to much.

Is there a line forming from Hull to Liverpool?

Is that the same front that hasn’t got the energy to reach here due to the strength of the cold block to the east.

I'll blame @Chris.R for promising heavy snow by the morning and blizzards at the weekend ???
