This was my ‘October Glory’ Canadian Maple Tree on October 21st 2020 in stunning full autumn colour. This year though it hasn’t yet turned with just the slightest of red now tinging the leaves it could be down to a variety of factors - mild nights maybe but more than likely a cold delayed Spring as it didn’t come in full leaf till around mid- late May this year vs Late April in the warm lockdown Spring of 2020. Here’s hoping it puts on just as spectacular a show in the colder weather arriving in the next few weeks as it did last year.

The end of the GFS looks intriguing with a Scandi high of sorts building and a beast lurking. Nice to see so early but no doubt gone on the next run.

The chase for me begins when the clocks go back this weekend.

It marks a change in the feel.of things.. early November in feel is every bit winter like as late December with early dusks setting in by half 4.

Yes autumn colour is late this year a combination of the late spring, persistent warmth and little frost. Just hope the wind doesn't bring leaves to the ground before they turn fully. Always think early November is the peak of the colours.

Evening

Seems like a lifetime since I last posted in here but due to covid affecting some of the family and Dad been rushed into hospital my hobby had to be put on the back burner hopefully we are all behind the worst.Only had a quick glance at the models and available data and it certainly looks like a front loaded winter is on the cards.I am leaning towards the last third of November for the fun and games to start as ever with the weather it makes fools of us all but certainly enough there to raise my interest.

A pleasant enough morning here in the south of the Region, and incredibly mild despite or because of the wind direction.

Yes, very mild and dry as well with the rain band sitting to the North. Even some tiny gaps of blue sky showing between the clouds at the moment. I wonder if we will stay dry all day here. Metoffice forecast indicates the far South of the region may well do.

15c mild and breezy… sun making an appearance ☀️ might scrape a dry day…

north of the region looks a tad worrying esp Cumbria… 140-200 mm over next few days

Met Office Amber Warning for Cumbria/ Lake District out for Heavy Rain ☔️ It’s in these scenarios that the north of the regions weather can be v different to that of the south of the region. Quite Nov 2009 esque.

Dry all day here but cloudy. A very large contrast between north and south of the region.

Not normally here but I've collected lot of tweets about this event including one from my amatuer forecasting group set up yesterday

This is what my group came up with yesterday, couldn't get to my laptop to update it today, notte that I have now changed the names from

Yellow warning - Slight impact

Amber warning - Moderate impact

Red warning - High impact

Indeed a carbon copy almost. Reports of localised flooding on roads already and we have a long way to go. Miserable.

Yes - some concerning totals for Cumbria.
