At least this week has followed a steady pattern.

Monday was wet

Tuesday wetter still

Wednesday even wetter than Tuesday

Thursday absolutely torrential.

Friday?    Can’t surely be any worse but better find the keys for the just in case.

at least the work I did on the flood basin also known as our conservatory seems to have paid off, not a drop on the floor all week.

Went out for a short 20 mile cycle late afternoon; it's that time of year; overshoes, waterproof jacket, and lights fitted, ready for the gloom.

Picture of flooding today in Ambleside (I think). Interesting possibilities for Saturday with talk of thundery activity in the NW.

Yes, chance of turbulent weather over the weekend. Not to be taken literally of course, but there are lightning symbols on the metoffice automated forecast for here in the early hours of Sunday morning.

I've not had the chance to get out on my bike recently, but I'm fairly sure everything will have turned to bog quickly on the local cycle trails this week. With the weather set like this for the foreseeable and rapidly receding energy from the sun from now on, it will take several several days of dry weather for things to dry out now. Dramatic difference to the summer months, when the trails can be bog one day and then bone dry 2 days later.

Doesn't take much.. a week ago the ground was very dry, low river flows etc.. a week on a different story. By week's end probably had average September month rainfall in a week.

A blowy old day here with the wind whistling through the house at times, but largely sunny after early morning showers cleared through.

Iceland getting in on the act early this year.... wonder if we'll ever experience a winter snow-storm like this from an atlantic low pressure system ever again?  Something that starts as snow, stays as snow and ends as snow?

Didn't you know the shadow effect only activates in winter when snow is forecast!? The rain will have no problem getting over the hills.

A wet start and a few showers since but on the whole, a damn site better day than the previous few, not that it could get much worse than yesterday’s deluge or what the weekend looks to have on offer.

A  tempestuous sort of day, some good lengthy dry breaks with some sunshine interspersed with sudden downpours, like Wednesday polar air was in the mix, and it has been a chilly day.

Tomorrow looking a write off unfortunately, incessant heavy rain for much of the day.  Bit of a shocker really.

I'm going for a colder than average Winter overall.

Bit of a rain shadow this morning heaviest rain to the north & south of Manchester on the radar. Moderate steady rain here in S Cheshire pretty miserable ☔️

Local weather station reading 9°C, it feels a tad colder.  Quite a wet morning too.  Daughter gone to a wedding in Nantwich, thankfully it's all inside, in a hall.  I've felt it necessary to put my heating on for a few mins or so.

Slight bit of a lull after a morning of moderate sporadic rain.  Appears central/southern England is getting the heavy stuff, but it's not exactly sunbathing weather here.  Looks like more rain to come this afternoon/early evening.

Gotta say, every time in last few years we had a warm sunny September, it was followed by lots of snow in winter. 2009/10 11/12 were the last 2 i remember
