Had a good old downpour, some very loud cracks and plenty of lightning here for a while here about an hour ago. Fantastic stuff. Sky is brightening now.

Several more rolls of thunder here, almost continuous. Things seem to be developing just to my NW.

Back to sunshine again here. These storms are developing out of little on the radar. The frequency of lightning/thunder is impressive. A storm just passed to the North/NW of here and the thunder was rolling around continuously at one point after announcing its arrival with a huge flash followed by shotgun thunder. Still rumbling away in the distance.

Monster of a downpour here with rumbles of thunder.

Very, very nearly got struck by lightning. Probably shouldn't have been sitting on a bench underneath a tree next to a body of water near tall buildings whilst it was hailing and I had already seen 10+ lightning bolts in the sky...

There have been regular rumbles of thunder on and off for the best part of the past hour here. It has turned into a very interesting day. It looks to be a bit of a hotspot for storm initiation just to our W/NW at the moment.

Steady rain here for the last hour or so, some heavy bursts, with an intermittent thundery soundtrack. The dog is petrified!

Early bout of heavy rain. Showers on and off thereafter. Rumble of thunder, nothing too heavy or long lasting so far..

Most notable feature is the cool temperature. Currently 16.7 degrees. A good 10 degrees down on where we were at this point in the day last week.

My dad , who lives in Failsworth,  texted and said some of the lightning was too close for comfort.

Like a conveyor belt now looking at the radar and frequent loud thunder. Going to remember this day for a while. Safe to say the thunder drought round here is over this year!
