Beast of a storm formed right over my head this evening with a few splashes of rain, followed by plenty of distant thunder. Looks like it’s given quite a show over Leigh and now heading towards N and W Manchester.

After a few heavy showers during the afternoon, it’s been mainly dry here for the last couple of hours but that deluge to the southwest of Manchester looks to be heading in my direction.

Listening to the noise on the conservatory roof, it’s arrived.

A very Heavy rain shower a 16:45 for around half an hour or so with a coupon of rumbles of thunder mixed in. Not a thunder storm as such. First rainfall in a while which had cleared the air. Tomorrow has the potential for more for this location and the region as a whole, but it’s difficult to pin point exact locations and intensity at the moment.

Nice storm in Warrington at the min, rain is heavy but not torrential. Been going on for last 15 mins

My wife got caught in this storm on the M6 near Thelwall viaduct. Speed limit of 30mph and for good reason as the road was flooded either side of the viaduct.

Still dry and dusty up here,  Those few drops this afternoon changed nothing.  Abandoned evening chore of garden watering as it appears some rain is approaching form the west.  May not be much, but some real rain will help thirsty plants,

Temp dropped - now 16.7.  Max been 21.0

I've seen worse forecasts. Hopefully something like this actually happens. However experience says no.

Yes, I'm there too. We had a charmed life yesterday. Few showers in the evening and more overnight and much cooler this morning, bordering on chilly.

Had an almighty downpour last night. Risk of further downpours & potential thunderstorms today. A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued by @UKWeatherUpdates on Twitter for eastern parts of the region including MCR and the Peak District. Will have to wait and see what develops this afternoon  ☔️ ⛈

Sun is breaking through regularly in between the cloudy periods here this morning which should aid decent CAPE build up. Parts of the region in the sweet spot for storm potential today, as shown by the various convective forecasts. Decent shear as well so if anything can develop, should allow storms to be sustained and large hail also a distinct possibility. Certainly an interesting day in prospect.

Almost perfect conditions for some quite intense thunderstorms for most parts of our region today, with some quite significant downpours.

Torrential rain here about 20 minutes ago, now eased off. Impressive cloudscapes now and sure I heard some distant thunder just now.

I think it's fair to say the mini drought has well and truly ended. Incredibly heavy cloudburst here just now.
