Looks like a day of brief lived storms today, with small storms developing readily but electrical activity not being sustained for very long each time.

Moderate shower here now which is the first rain we've had in at least two weeks.

Large dry band over far N England, Cumbria, NE England, and south scotland at the moment. All activity moving around us, await the showers.. Also it's warm, 23.9 degrees.

The North East has been dry for many days, no wind and fair amounts of sunshine, it seems strange these last few days to be in the middle of slow pressure system and get some continuity for the previous high. We do need some rain and I guess later in the week we will get some, however as we usually miss the storms I cannot see that changing.

Beer garden for lunch today. Showers 20 miles to the west and north. Hope it stays dry . This is the shower shooting up over Burnley. A warm 22c so again a lovely day. Is that 12 great days in a row?

Overcast and claggy today here but only a few spots of rain so far. Despite only being 19C it feels quite warm due to higher humidity today (75%).

Hopefully we get some of this rain near Macc as it's been very dry here now for a few weeks. The closest band misses us to the NW (yet again).

Can't quite believe how close this has got and it's missing us. Still sat outside. Looks like it's hammering it down at home a couple of miles north of here.

Really heavy downpour now, gusty too, making it feel more of a squall. Can't believe there is nothing electrical yet, strong smell of petrichor though.  It's really dark out west.  Dark mass out Poynton and Stockport way.  Sferic east of Chapel en le frith as I type.

Finally we have some steady rain. I was beginning to think this area was turning into the Gobi desert. Hope I can squeeze out a thunderstorm before summer is out. Been very disappointing in that respect.

We had a 14 day drought by 9GMT today.  Broken by a few spots 1.30-2pm.  Large mass of rain has brushed past us and gone into Upper Ribblesdale.

Just been driving down the East Lancs at say 17:15 and saw a funnel cloud I think.
Nearly crashed the van trying to get a photo and failed miserably.

Peeing it down now for the first time in ages but feeling really warm indoors, at 23C, humdity very high today, currently  16.6C, 94% humdity. Need to go out soon, waiting for the rain to stop, still in shorts and a t-shirt, don't really want to put a rain jacket on but might have to, might be a choice between getting soaked or being too warm.
