It’s quite amusing reading posts from people in the S and SE saying what an average to poor summer it has been. All things considered I think up here at least, it’s been what heat lovers would class as decent.

I must say, when I looked at the seasonals a few months back, it looked like the NW would see the best of the weather with the SE closer to troughing.

Last night was very uncomfortable, worst one of this hot spell for me.. Alas hopefully tonight will be more comfortable, temp outside is 19.5 degrees, this contrasts with 22 degrees same time yesterday. However, indoor temps still very stuffy at 24.5 degrees, will take some time for them to come down.

Lovely weekend on the cards - not as warm as last weekend, or recent days, bu maxes of 22-23 degrees and plenty of sunshine and more of a fresh breeze, ideal for late July.

Monday could bring a few showers, but the unsettled breakdown not expected to hit here in earnest until Tuesday, over 3 days later than the south! We are definately drawing the better straw this summer, unusual to see the NW better than the SE.

A lot more comfortable for sleeping last night but I hope today’s start of thick cloud and a gusty wind doesn’t set the pattern for the rest of the day.

That said, I’d take it over the heavy rain forecast further south.

Ah thats better , all the windows open to let in the cooler air and let that stuffy heat leak away ,  just peeved we didnt get any storms as a reward for enduring the heat ,  but what else can you expect in the storm starved NW?

Maybe it’s because we’re up in the hills but a few spits of rain in the air.

come on sunshine, I’m all for occasional cloudy and cooler days in summer but please not at weekend☹️

I'm all for this cloudy, breezy dry weather, as the sight of the sun makes me think of thundery activity to follow, and we appear to be on the northern edge of the thundery activity which has hit the SE and CS England overnight. A local wedding this afternoon (not mine!) and an outdoor church service tomorrow morning, so please stay away rain and thunder, at least until Monday!

Spots of rain here (Corton), with watery sunshine .

Forecast is interesting.  Maybe booming thunder later.

Hi,

Does anyone know of an accurate weather station in the Wigan area that I can get reliable reading from?

Many Thanks

Dave

After a cloudy dull morning, the sun has finally started to put an appearance in up here and the breeze has died down so hopefully a decent set up for a late afternoon few beers sat outside my local.

A much colder and cloudier day today, looking at the forecast it looks like we have a week of cloud hope it's wrong. Supposed to be 20c today but it certainly doesn't feel it, feels more like 15/16c

Always fancied going there.

we have a bit of an obsession with Brewery tours, mainly the sampling side of it and Adnams looks like one for my bucket list.

Wonder who writes these text forecasts..... warm and humid tonight at 9C? It's definitely more bearable now outside and has dropped a few celsius indoors as well.

Just noting the radar for my location NR325LQ. I can see the rain and possible storms curling in from the South and the  Netherlands .

Keeping my eye on the radar, you might get lucky, even if it's distant lightning views out in the North sea.  Looks like you are having a nice break.

Going dark and overcast ☁️ now.

I can see the radar curl is taking the rain in towards the East coast

Had the few beers I promised myself sat outside my local but the last couple were drunk with a jacket on.

don’t know whether we just found it coolish after the heat of the last week or whether it was the lack of sunshine but it was certainly a big difference from sat outside in St Annes this time last week

then it felt tropical, now it was temperate at best.
