29c & sunshine sometimes turning a touch hazy much of the day here in S Cheshire. Feels like temperatures the hottest of this spell so far 32-33c with increased humidity. Looking likely to reach 30c tomorrow, a warm but more pleasant day Friday 24/25c  before much fresher weather with some rain moves in weekend onwards.Sadly not looking great on the storms front for us but boy weren’t we spoilt with storms last year. June & the August hot spell breakdown served up some fantastic storms from memory. My thoughts are for a fresher start to August before more settled and warmer conditions arrive mid month but we shall see.

☀️

A few lively showers are showing on the radar and it looks like the one currently over Burnley is heading south and, whether it has my name on it or not, the sky certainly looks threatening.

meanwhile the last of the haymaking continues around these parts, probably with one eye on this weekends likely breakdown

Hmm interesting. Thunder currently at a rate of every 20 seconds or so from this building to our north west. Could be a pretty active next hour or so.

Some pretty decent radar returns to the North of Manchester.  Seems also that the something is igniting to the West aswell.

Looks like Bacup is about to get clobbered! Nothing likely here, but hoping the storms can maintain their intensity until after dark as they inch South to provide a good light show at least.

Sat in the garden looking WNW it seems to be filling in this little gap. Still rumbling away.

Pretty much constant thunder for the last 20 minutes but no rain yet.

TBH  I’d settle for a good lightening display from a dry storm.

Developing anvil onwards and upwards. Can't hear rumbles at present from here now though.

This storm can’t make its mind up which way to go and after looking like it was going to hit lower down the Rossendale Valley it’s now looking like it’s heading up towards Bacup.

edit, can hear rain drops on the conservatory roof……the drought is over

Ah well most of the activity has slid off to the west of here. Might get a bit of rain but what's best is the lovely cool breeze that's picked up. Quick get all the windows open.  A lot of thunder from N Bury and Ramsbottom.

So close.... If that was just a couple of miles further east I would’ve caught that one!

Just some distant rumbles here but no rain or lightning. Oh well, there’s still the rest of tonight, tomorrow, Friday and Saturday to go so plenty of time to catch a storm yet.

We had about 20 minutes of steady rain here but it looks like we dodged a bullet with the heaviest stuff heading down the valley to our west.

Can't wait...not

The humidity seems high with this spell and it's zapping all energy from me.

Hope not. BBC weather forecasting 28°C here tommorow, 25°C on Friday and just 20°C on Saturday. Can’t wait for the cooldown!
