More cloud than sun now, yesterday my local area managed to dodge the showers but they were quite heavy and potent in every other direction of the compass within a few miles.  Probably won't be so lucky to shower-dodge today, I think it's coming home.

After a lot of chopping and changing Wednesday onwards is looking very nice indeed. Dare I say probably the best conditions of the summer so far? As for tonight let's hope we get a good result. Come on England!

It looks like we’ve drawn the  end of the stick here as regards sunshine but hopefully England won’t let us down later.

Stayed dry all day yesterday and today so far but with more cloud and no sun.  Getting a bit excited now for the footie, can't concentrate on anything apart from eating.  Eager now to get behind the team and have a good scream at the tv screen.  Come on England, come on England and bring it home.

My second day at staying completely dry looking under threat as a some showers are popping up ahead of the main rain band just edging into Cheshire.  Some will be worse for wear turning up for work tomorrow judging by the mass of England fans out and about.  Some started so early today I'd be surprised if they are not catatonic by now.

Dry all day today here and sunny at present, but won't last for long given that the rain is now knocking on the door. Attention now turning to the match. Everything crossed that England can finally win a major trophy again after all these years!

Almost a dry day here but it’s raining pretty hard at the moment.

Just glad I’m not watching the match in a beer garden.

Stayed dry here until around 10 pm when I got some rain for about 10 minutes, now back to dry again. Forecast for more rain overnight and tommorow but I'm doubtful as the bbc weather app forecast showers all day today, which didn't happen. The met office did say the showers would be very hit and miss this weekend and apps are notoriously bad at predicting convective showers.

And just as I posted that the heavens opened...

Dissapointing result regarding the football but at least we made it to the final.

Yes, we played well. Penalties are always a lottery. We're making progress, hopefully one better next year...

Well, not the result we were all looking for.

Immensely proud of our team's efforts, they should hold their heads very high and look at it as another stepping stone to winning a trophy.

In my 42 years following football and supporting England this is by far the best group of players I have seen, quite a few of them are still babies in international terms so plenty of room to improve. I still believe this group will win either the World Cup or Euros within the next 5-10 years.

To finish, the abuse suffered to the guys who missed pens is utterly disgusting and the sooner social media can stop this happening the better! Having the balls to take one takes guts, I'd like to se some of these keyboard warriors do it.

GOOD LUCK IN THE FUTURE BOYS, YOU DID THE COUNTRY PROUD!

Now, where's the next storm?

Why isn't there a better way than the lottery of penalties -- count the corners, fouls etc.  Or do the top brass want the shoot-outs to add excitement.  What's wrong with "joint winners"?

Drizzly day -- indoor work being tackled at last.

At least it's cooled down the bedroom a bit - 23C yesterday now down to 22C. Despite the lack of heat I've found recent nights to be very close and oppressive. Hopefully the switch to high pressure will reduce the humdity and make the nights cooler and fresher again.

Currently 17C outside but with 90% humidity. Ugh.

Shocking video forecast on the BBC. Even now they're showing today as dry with some isolated heavy showers. Met Office video have it spot on with persistent rain.

Absolutely - just watched the latest NW BBC/ Meteogroup forecast and had the majority of the region dry apart from some heavy showers. They should have stayed with the Met Office.

Miserable wet and muggy day today. However I’m quite happy with the rain now to top water levels up and soak the vegetation, ready for a nice warm dry spell later this week
