Only had a few glimpses of sun here as it's been a mostly dull day but that hasn't stopped it reaching 24C and for the first time this summer it actually feels a bit muggy but it won't last as it's going to be much fresher tomorrow. Tuesday looking far better than today for sunshine.

Very overcast until about 6 ish here then sunny and feeling pleasantly warm and a bit muggy. Now currently sunny intervals and about 23°C. Too little too late though.

Tommorow much fresher, 16/17°C, mostly cloudy and brisk westerlies.

Photo just now pretty much sums up the best part of the day. Very pleasant to sit outside. Temp easily got to 24c in the 15 mins of sun we got around 5pm. Wonder what it would have been with a few hours instead of a few minutes.

Got to around 25c this afternoon in S Cheshire when the sun briefly came out properly for a bit a humid close evening this evening but nothing exceptional compared to the hot & very humid few days we had last August. Like many I would much rather it be 21c and sunny than 30c and cloudy so Tuesday fingers crossed looks a nicer summers day and who knows maybe the chance of a storm ⛈ midweek?

Quite happy the sun didn't go blazin' saddles on us today....a) because it made the couple of hours playing Tennis that bit more tolerable, and b) it would have made tonight feel even more close and humid.  It's still 21c here, rather that than the cookhouse of Central London.  That said they'll have the best seats in the house for the midweek storm potential.  We'll be high up in the Gallery with limited visibility.

Last year our region had the Lions share of the storms in June, seems like our friends down south are having their share this June.

Mmm very unimpressed with today, not a chink of brightness, yes it was warm, but max 21 degrees hardly noteworthy for mid June. Coming week looking rather average and at times cool temp wise.

Except I missed out on a lot of the storms last year. I remember Liverpool did really well and got like five thunderstorms a week or something crazy like that, while I only got one or two little storms.

A very uncomfortable night for sleeping. A fresher day/night will be welcome today.

Last year was amazing for thunderstorms here, both in terms of the number of storms we had and the intensity of them, two of which were the best I have seen in around 40 years.  A repeat would be nice this year, for sure, though I doubt we'll scale such heights again.

Cold front has passed through with a few spits and spots of rain gone has the humidity to be replaced with some what fresher air perhaps fair to say it feels a tad chilly.

Despite today being much cooler than yesterday here, it’s actually sunnier. Cool though, only 16°C with a brisk westerly breeze, but not feeling too bad in the sunshine.

Forecast to be warmer Tuesday and Wednesday before turning cool and showery later on in the week.

Went to bed last night thinking we might see a bit of decent rain  given the cold front though narrow was quite an intense line of precipitation on the radar just to our NW, alas it must have squeezed itself out when arrived because ground is bone dry. A very dry first half to June, just a trace of rain so far.

Today another disappointing cloudy scene, and cool, max 17 degrees, hardly flaming June!

I reckon if the UK was hit by an official hurricane for the first time ever known during the next week, there will at least 5 posters who won't make one comment on it but still be bombarding the COVID thread with posts......

They need to stop checking Twitter and the news and calm down.

A markedly cooler day today than of late. No change to the advanced thunderstorm warning for Wed to Fri on the metoffice website. I expect that will be adjusted/fine tuned tomorrow. Regional forecast now mentioning risk of heavy thundery showers overnight on Wednesday night.

If yesterday’s weather was disappointingly cloudy, at least it was a warm cloudy but today we couldn’t even manage the warm bit.

Felt decidedly chilly today and even managed a couple hours of wet this morning whilst for our friends in the south, sunny and hot.

Normal service is resumed.

If recent years are anything to go off then we’re just about to enter the summer monsoon season so plenty of grey and miserable probably on the way.

oh and only 4 weeks to go before Boris extends restrictions for another 4 weeks although hopefully by then it’ll have run it’s course in our region.

Yes this is the pivotal point in the summer, when the atmosphere tends to bed into its summer base state, usually around the solstice, signs are we will see the traditional reawakening of the atlantic with a revert back to the typical NW-SE divide with the dreaded south westerlies coming into play.. oh joy!

Each to their own but I don’t even want an outside chance of a storm from Wednesday to Friday.

just want dry and warm

Well the extreme heat has arrived in California. Nearly a week of temps above 50C in Death Valley from tomorrow. Any of you heat lovers relish this? ?️
