Yes, we've had sun most of the afternoon. Pity it doesn't seem likely to last over the weekend!

It just wouldn’t feel like weekend without heavy driving rain

Damp dreary morning as forecast. Rain not particularly heavy but a nuisance for a weekend. Hoping for an improvement later.

According to Meto the rain will stall in southern parts into the afternoon well that never happens in winter a stalling front.

Tomorrow looks no better with heavy showers with a high risk of instability making the showers heavy prolonged and Thundery

Sunny and dry here but looking at the radar, not for long.

Was just going to post the same thing myself.

Plenty of drab blues and a few brighter colours showing so I can’t see it being a dry afternoon and maybe it’ll end up as a complete wash out.

big question is do I risk attempting a walk or slob in front of the box.

Heavy rain here now, I’d stay in.

It must be moving north. Raining here in the south of the region since 9am.

Not been to bad here although more on than off for the last couple of hours but thankfully not that heavy.

Fayred better in the main than anticipated today. The front arriving later than expected, so we managed to stay dry until 4pm making for a useable day. Still disaapointingly overcast though and temps a rather lacklustre 13 degrees.

Quite the shower passing over in Crewe, heavy rain and hail and it's been torrential for a good 20 minutes.

Torrential shower here in S Cheshire at the moment. May is certainly making up for what was a dry and fairly shower free April. May doesn't determine the following summer but it's not looking particularly warm at any point in the next 10 days or so.

Looks very dark to my south. Couple of small intense cells on radar.

Strange, we didn't get the intense rainfall (Joe Snow and RobR) in this part of Crewe, or maybe I missed it watching the end of the FA Cup Final, but a miserable day overall and still not really cleared now.

No intense rainfall here today in Macc.  Been cool and grey all day with a couple of showers.  Tis a bit miserable for mid May. I too watched the final, suppose Leicester City couldn't give a hoot as to what the weather is like right now, well done the foxes.

What a miserable day.  All was bright and hopeful yesterday afternoon but now after today's big showers, the ground is filthy wet again.

No apple blossom out yet.  I can usually find plenty to photograph by 15th May.

Yes I've noticed a couple of types of trees and plants are a bit behind schedule now too. The relentless below average temps has caused it. Looks like the growing season has been cut short this year. No signs of it warming up anytime soon either.

Same here, heard the thunder. I think that is 3 or 4 days this May I have heard thunder.

I think 2013 was the only May since and including  2010, I have heard thunder during the month.

Northern Lake District. - Saturday a better day than expected insofar as rainfall is concerned. Some sunshine late in the day but largely overcast and calm. Dry overnight but steady persistent rain from 8am. The rain from a lump of cloud that has moved in from the Irish Sea that will hopefully clear my mid-day. Tops of all local tops <3000ft clear. Last snow on Blencathra has gone.

So far totally opposite to what was forecast last night currently long sunny intervals with temperature at 16c forecast was for heavy prolonged Thundery showers all day

Forecast was for a sunny start here with possibility of thundery showers later...one's just popped up east of Hadfield from nowhere so hopefully a bit of instability will set a few more off as we enter late afternoon.  Glorious sunny start though here.
