Camels in Bacup    Could be -- it's a rum place.  You never know what's coming into town.

Still coming down heavy like a mini blizzard. Occasional big snowflake. Reasonable dusting on the ground now.

Some in the town obviously have a thing for inviting a couple of friendly sheep to illegal lock ins but I think a camel might be pushing it a bit

just think how much it would drink

Incredible isn't it. Wasn't heavy, more dandruff style for around 20 mins or so, stopped now and the radar shows it fragmenting quickly. You surely must have had snow around mid afternoon?

Assume the precipitation over N Ireland is the second front or something inbetween? Appears to moving east quite fast and there are a few green blobs within, I wonder if it might produce a bit of snow as it hits the region given we have lost the low dew points and I suspect humidity has increased a bit.. no doubt it will be freezing rain instead!

Just checking humidity level forecasts, Met Office have us on 90% end of tomorrow and 98% by Monday.. a major change in feel about to occur from very dry continental to the humid tropical maritime feel.. and all those hard surfaces will soon be a quagmire again with everything coated in wetness..

Yep surprised there’s not more precip expected tonight; perhaps stuff will appear unexpectedly like before.

about another 3–5 hours before the main precip type will be ice pellets/freezing rain. Another 16–18 hours before all of the surface cold is mixed out. Longer the further south east you are.

Well 2 snowfalls in a day is rare for these parts. The radar exploded earlier for an hour. Completley unexpected. Gave another dusting followed by ice pellets.  Thats snow every sunday for maybe 3 or 4 weekends.. again rare. Volume was pitiful  but evrywhere went white. Maybe 0.5cm depth. Was fun to see.

Still bitter out there

In another couple of weeks, daylight will be creeping into the early evening and we’re getting closer to a few months where outside jobs and pastimes can be done after work so I’m looking less for winter charts and more for something warmer.

0'c at Manchester Airport compared to 10'c in the south of Ireland, the milder air is approaching the doorstep along with the snow-thaw so tomorrow should be the last day of feeling the effects from this past Easterly and likely the coldest/snowiest week of this year (pending any more developments before spring.)
