It’s a real shame it doesn’t look like there will be a decent breakdown for this spell. Any fronts with snow potential look like fizzling out before they get here while the air gradually gets warmer.

TBH a poor breakdown will just about sum up this cold spell and this winter in general.

the school report summed up in one sentence...... “could have done better”

I'm looking for some mild now. This cold spell has been nigh on useless for snow. Promised so much initially yet delivered so little.

Interesting variations, I reckon it has been the snowiest winter around here since 2009-10 and the best winter in terms of wintriness since the cold winter cluster of 2008-13.

It’s been an odd one here. In terms of days of falling snow we’ve had the most in quite a few years, but the most we’ve had is about 2 inches. Plus we’ve had quite a few days of below of average temperatures so I guess we can’t really complain.

No real surprise. GFS runs are on the poor side of things.

METO seem keen though.

Fylde summary.

Tarmac - bit of Graupel.

That’s it.

Minimum was -5.1°C; not quite as cold as the previous night. Must have been a bit of cloud. My Crosby station got down to -4.9°C.

Another hard frost here and glorious start to the day.

I think it has been a decent winter so far in these parts. Nothing exceptional in terms of snow depths, but several days of both falling and lying snow which I would suggest has been above average for this area and on this basis I would rate winter as 7/10 so far in these parts. It would be nice if we could squeeze out at least one more significant snowfall before winter ends.

Looks to be turning less cold in a few days time, but a decent chance of snow later on Saturday before this happens.

Dropped to -5.7*C, thought it would have gone lower as it was -5*C when I went to bed.

This winter will be remembered as the winter of light dustings, bored of it now, kind of wishing for an early spring.

Yes, current temp here -3 degrees, suspect we hit a low of -4 degrees. Lack of snow cover a big factor.

I wouldn't discount chance of heavy snowfalls before winter is fully finished ( I class 21 March). May see our heaviest snow of the season so far on Saturday, only 2 inches to beat.

-6.2ºC overnight here as per the greenhouse thermometer; -2.5C currently and rising in the sunshine...

Loving how we're going from this to c10ºC and pish next week

It's been cold with some signs of snow; but not exactly a winter to remember IMO

Lets see if anything comes of this 'snow' warning we're getting for Saturday...

I think the warning will be scaled down this morning bbc graphics this morning shows the band into N Wales and most Southern parts of the region and then skirting the most western parts as you move north and then surprise surprise gives Scotland another dumping local weather also showing the same has chester showing as snow and Manchester dry.

On the plus side at least you don't have to watch the snow thaw rapidly

I'm actually expected the weather warning to get cancelled today.

This is why most of us in the region forum, particularly in the west of the region, hate easterlies haha. Oh well the sunny, crisp weather has been lovely. I'd take this over endless rain. Sadly I knew my 0cm prediction before this would be correct, I was hoping it wouldn't be but I'd been down this particular garden path too many times.

Yeah it’s a tough place to be on the west coast if your after snow

we have had a complete lack of polar north westerlies for a few years thinking early March might deliver one
