Yeah 96 was the best since the 70s, remember going to the flicks to watch I think se7en and it just started snowing, came out and had to walk home, crazy stuff in West lancs/ Merseyside. That's why I was kind of hopeful in this setup but it not working out that way at the moment is it pal...

Yeah, I remember February 1996; I worked in Wigan then, and the M58 only had one lane clear - though I remember a few cars flying past in lane 2..

Just watched the met office forecast. At the end the text says 'Cold wind, Wet in west (some snow) and Milder by next week'. Screams downgrade to me.

Atlantic wins in the end. (Breakdown just a whimper)

Great to see the rain coming back the moment it starts turning milder!

WOW, this was a shower and half. biggest flakes all week  shame it only lasts 5 or 10 mins. It may melt before sun goes down.

Missed me, just! Went dark though. Maintained all the yellow colours so not surprised it was a good one  .

I've been out on a good day's hike around Chinley Churn today with a few fleeting snow-showers and treading through knee-deep snow at times, feeling warm when the sun was out but facing the Easterly wind it definitely felt 'Alpine-like' up on the top. A contrast to the green of Manchester & Cheshire compared to the white landscape looking out over this side of the Peak District.

I'm getting really sick and tired of these snizzle showers while the sun is still out. It was quite pretty the first few times. Now it just makes me sad haha. It's made worse by the fact that is settles straight away too, if only we could get one of these for half an hour we'd be on to a winner.

Saturday > very cold air mass with strong winds, WC of -3 to -5C with risk of continuous light snow in evening (50%) and dry cold in evening (50%)

Sunday > Dry initial before transitioning into an active frontal breakdown of cold, producing strong winds (30mph+) & heavy rain with the possibility of leading edge snow mostly* above 100 metres during the evening.

Temps of 1-3C at the T2m air temperature level and 0-2C at the Temp Ground level  (60% outcome). More drawn out break down period > temperatures close to 0 to 1C with strong winds & outbreaks of snow producing accumulations of 1-4cm (40%).

Monday: slightly milder, 2-4C, outbreaks of rain/ sleet
