Morning,

It's a good job there's posts like this to make me laugh in the morning otherwise I'd be going mad with the complete lack of any snowfall. I love the chase & analysing charts but I also love this forum!

Another sprinkling of fairy dust to cover the grey concrete roads and paths this morning but I won't need to dig myself out of the house, like they are having to do in Braemar (Scottish Highlands)

(A measurement of 70cm (2.2ft) of snow has been taken in Braemar)

Very cold though, and even colder tonight.

So, it's D-day. Day of the fish supper.

Having sought out a suitable area to place my tape measure into the deep and crisp layer of snow, I've just come to realise my guestimate of 6cm was only 5.99cm shy.

Hold the salt and vinegar @Spah1

Another stunning morning, this time with a thin layer of powder snow under foot

Looks as though it dies out just as it gets here and if there is a second band, it will reach here and it will be rain.

Admire your optimism but been burnt a little too many times with prospects of fronts coming in from the Atlantic against colder air for our region

Mid March 2004, the amber alert given by the met office for mid January 2013 only for it too develop a low and it all sank southwards. Early February 2012, for western parts, eastern parts did pretty well though.

I can only think of the front that ended the January 2013 cold spell that really delivered anything in the last decade.

Hoping one of these showers roughly heading in our direction actually drops something of note this morning! All streamers this week have missed us but maybe this one won't??

Ok  - the chart that transported the Fylde into LapLand and Sundays 00z

Do battlegrounds favour the NW? - it's all in the stall factor and it's a bit mesh out there this morning.
