Not a proper easterly (officer).

I’m obsessed, as you’d expect.

Definitely not as good here as I’d have hoped.

My mistake was comparing the setup to the BFTE. With hindsight that was a colder airmass, lower heights and a better direction for here.

Nope definitely not.

In the past even a poor easterly delivered well on the peaks with dandruff everywhere else. I remember a few troughs in the past just down the Pennines whilst the rest of the region moaned about easterlies. Not seen one of them since the eighties though.

Yes I've tried use the snap map link to show us the snow in Germany. But it doesn't work on here somehow.

We seem to have had all sorts of opportunities this winter and nothing has came off for most of us, seems like it we need a miracle in this part of the world.

All we've got here is flurries today.  Not proper snow showers. I prefer a front loaded snow but that is probably never gonna happen. More chance of you winning a lottery than having a front loaded snow stall over us.

As others have said it looks like that’s pretty much it for the day for most of us.

not a lot are getting over the Pennines now and even on the Yorkshire side they don’t seem to have as much intensity as earlier so, unless the mother of all streamers heads up Calderdale it’s an early night for me.

A small improvement here. A moderate to heavy snow shower in progress, which has put down a light dusting so far.

Is that where it fizzles out or where it stalls.

Finally a dusting, looking at the radar there are possibly quite a few showers heading this way if the precipitation holds up?

This is it at 15:00 , so should get at least 3 + hours out of it with what it shows currently. can't see the hourly time stamp yet as too far ahead.

It's taken all day to finally grab the lightest of dustings, which is mainly on cars, but roads and pavements were beginning to catch a coating when it stopped. I'm not convinced we'll see more than a dusting overnight, unless a streamer can set up or we can get lucky with shower alignment.

Trains stopped between Buxton & Manchester due to snowdrifts in/around the Dove Holes area, Snake Pass is closed (unsurprisingly.)

I think my area has done better than most other parts of Greater Manchester this winter. 15 days with lying snow under Met Office rules with 12 days on the trot from 28th December until 8th January, last reminants disappearing on the 10th January.

It doesn’t seem to be making much headway though and breaking up but another 50 miles and we would all be in business.

just hope it’s not a default snow to rain event.

Thats when Buxton does get cut off.

Radar interesting, certainly for Glossop, may track into Buxton to, later.

True.. but the 3 hours prior to that could deliver some nice coverings if were lucky, I'm staying hopeful.
