We should all get something according to that.

Apart from the area where the gap is in the middle

You got there before me! Preston and Fylde should be 'safe'!

In contrast, mine have changed to light snow symbols most hours of the day when showing little earlier. I barely pay any attention to them because it's just automated. Will probably completely change again in 3 hours time.

Just missed out on an ice day today, max temp 0.1°C. But I’m sure we will manage one tomorrow

Yeah my app has upgraded too if anything. Lots of heavy snow symbols for East Manchester for tomorrow morning, I’d suggest UKV looks good.

I wouldn’t worry about the fax chart.

This is boring

Yeah typical easterly at the moment isn't it, slate grey skies and odd flake blowing around, better luck tomorrow hopefully, not expecting anything today. Todays Satellite images saying no chance of a bonny frosty night

Mine has gone worse, probably still to far north for the expected path of the main streamers.

best one is Wednesday though where I am on a Yellow warning for snow but not a single snow symbol throughout the entire day.

as you say though, likely to change again and probably a few times.

Sad state of affairs this.. People getting hopeful and excited at the prospect of a cm or 2 if we get lucky.. The facts are easterlies are crap for the northwest.. No matter how much people spin it and hope.. And according to latest output there's more easterlies to come.. I can see a very annoying and frustrating 2 weeks coming up.

Well maybe but I haven’t had a CM or 2 ironically since the last beast.

I must have imagined all those pictures of huge snow drifts just outside Rochdale in 2018 .

I don’t think anyone is trying to “spin” anything btw , that’s a bit of an unfair dig IMO.

Not a dig at all.. Just facts.. Eastern parts like Rochdale may do a bit better.. But the majority of us won't.

To be fair an event like this is probably one of those where Lancashire should be split from Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

There awful here. Bloody awful.

We are a very mixed region. My best snowfalls have all come from the east but notably in the 1980s. I’m not sure what 1991 was like round here I lived in London and thought 18” of snow must be normal in Brixton.

The snow depth figures for 1947 and 1963 are very telling for the region. East Cheshire had nearly a yard of level snow and Manchester notably in 1947 had just a few inches from dandruff!

People don’t like NW’lies because they’re too marginal, people don’t like easterlies because they’re too dry. Basically as a region we are a massive pain in the backside. as @Wardlegacy says we are a very varied region and easterlies can absolutely deliver the goods for some and more than a couple of cm too. No spin. Completely get that for people north and west they’re not as good.
