The radar shows little bits and pieces of ppn cropping up all the way to the West Coast. Nothing significant by any means, but this is hopefully an encouraging sign for later today. Largely cloudy skies here with a few snow grains witnessed already. I wouldn't worry about the low further South, that's not close enough to scupper chances of showers in our region.

Yep, my part of East Cheshire was sheltered by the hills, only noticed drizzle through the early hours.  However, the hills surrounding Macc. managed to catch some snow, you can just make it out on the photo.

Just returned from braving the icy wastes with the hounds. Everything is frozen solid. Black ice on every solid surface and snizzle blowing in the wind. Any plans for a walk with one nominated friend knocked on the head as sure I’ll return with a broken bone!!

Worth noting aswell there is a difference in wind direction between Monday and Tuesday. On Monday the flow is ENE’ly but by Tuesday it veers more E’ly so will alter the position of any streamers potentially.

Euro 4 seems to indicate multiple lines of streamers tomorrow from the Midlands Northwards, not just one.

Looks impressive on the East coast lots of peppercorn wintry showers...here snow grains floating in the air.  I think that will be the theme of today's state of play.  Hopefully the Great Barrier Pennines will allow some beefy showers to float over tomorrow/Tues.

Looking forward to the dryer air with the lower temps & dew points to 'suck out' the standing water all around, takes me about three hours to clean the chuffin dog everyday lol

Went to bed with snow blowing about but not sticking, but no covering this morning.

The werneth low behind me has a light dusting. And a few flakes are blowing about in the breeze currently.

Wasn't really paying much attention to the amount of rain we got yesterday. The garden is still standing in water this morning, I've also noticed there were numerous roads locally that were flooded by mid afternoon yesterday. Can only assume its a topping up process and the groundwater levels must be really high. So yes you are right, maybe this dry week or 2 is coming at the right time. At least I can get out for a good walk again today

Interesting post on the NE thread - the north has a longer sea track due to the wind direction. The peppercorn showers should be replaced with better convection like this after today.

Nothing to do with the sea track, it be more down to increased instability and lower thicknesses which are forecast to get lower.

People seem to think cold air over the sea means lots of convection but it does not always work that way but it is producing moisture albeit the radar probably flatters to deceive and most of it pretty light and insignificant. I do expect too see beefier showers tonight and into tomorrow

At dawn some whiteness showing on fells above 1000ft.  Even some floury dust on top of car.   Still just about hanging on.  No sun.  Bitter ENE wind.

There's the old story that if we've had E winds for 3 days, we'll have them for 3 weeks.   We've had them for a week already.
