Morning guys,

Yeh mate and they probably reside in London.

If we do not see something develop within the next five days that manages to beef the showers up to cross the Pennines for the west I'll be amazed.

Bitterly cold air, driving easterly wind over a warmer North Sea...

I completely agree, with @northwestsnow also .

The GEM looking very Feb 2018 toward the end of it's run, one to watch. The ECM wanting to prolong the cold too

A fair amount of streamer activity for our patch on the 00z Arpege . Chopping and changing as the wind vectors alter slightly

It’ll be interesting whether this mornings warnings increase or decrease the threat of snow.

it is looking like the extreme SE corner is primed for some heavy snow tomorrow but the conditions which would  warrant the Amber are probably limited to areas within 30 miles of the coast and, given that it’s weekend and we’re still in essential travel only mode, I cannot see any justification at the moment for increasing the area covered.

Off out for my first post COVID walk now so, although I have some decent wet weather gear, I just hope anything that tests it is snow rather than rain.

This upcoming spell sometimes makes me wish for simpler times when this sort of ceefax forecast was the only updated information you could get in addition to to the TV forecasts. No apps, no radar, no forums. I was never disappointed as the forecast was never meant to be 100% accurate. Looking at the sky and staring at that lamppost was all we could do. Technology has changed our perceptions and expectations massively. The past 12 months has taught us life, in all its forms, is more precious than ever so let's all try and enjoy this coming week without fretting too much about all the information at our fingertips.

I wish someone who wrote those text forecasts was on the forum. Where do they hang out?

They've found the only pub still open by the sounds of it. Or wfhing with a large bottle of wine by them.

Yep the ppn is turning wintry (green) in places on the radar now even on the coast!

My smart watch says 3C here. It was 4-5C few hrs ago.

Welcome blue sky and sunshine this morning, not seen the fells since Monday. Expecting we might be one of the sunniest parts of England over coming days. Most places are going to be a gloom fest. Means we see sharper frosts!

Not a pleasant  day at all here. Steady rain cold wind and dull. Glad I went for a walk yesterday. Even the cat won't go out

Meanwhile on my patch I’ve just enjoyed a lovely, sunny walk along the beach.

Noticing a more ESE’ly tilt for Tuesday now. Not sure how this will affect our shower distribution. Not saying it’s a bad thing at all.

Likewise nr you SFZ here on the Fylde - waiting for the bitter but dry days ahead that we'll probably get this far west...

Higher fells over 1500ft -- seem to be whitening with fresh snow.   All the old patches up there have gone in overnight rain, but must be colder now on the back edge of the rain -- all coming in from ENE.

Rain here definitely turning splatty with the odd flake mixed in. Tops slightly higher are already white so just need a bit more cold air and we’re off!!

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
