Say the same for here but if the winds are strong I doubt I’ll get a measurement

Pretty sure Oldham will be in the firing line for any snow on offer, especially over towards Saddleworth but I’m expecting many areas will get decent amounts and hoping that every square inch of our region turns white and stays like that for several days.

For this region, I am interested in Saturday as it is an ENE wind, so slightly lower "sheild precipitation loss" rates means the precip may make it over to Manchester, Central Lancashire, and East Cheshire / East Staffordshire as a wintry mix (note the hill run in Cheshire/Staffordshire is longer so will be a bit more restricted East here). But unfortunately heights look a little higher - meaning there will be some Fohen effect -  into low lying North West the Fohen effect increases air temp & decreases dew points (dries the air) AS the air descends through the low levels. This means that the precipitation gradient is often at 100 metres in East Manchester / Cheshire, as opposed to in the middle of the Pennines. So, I expect snow is likely to about this level on Saturday, possible further west if the front is stronger maybe 1-3cm.

Still saying M6 east (away from Cumbria where snow may fall west of the M6) for disruptive shower activity next week as heights look a little higher on the latest output, so possibly amounts maybe three quarters of BFTE 1 if latest Arpege/GFS verify. Of course get a trough in the flow & then quite easily further west with precipitation.

2018 small drifts

Must be the inner child trying to get out but I love to see snowdrifts, even the small ones against kerbs.

Well let’s have a bit of fun. By 5pm on Wednesday 10th Feb predict your snow depth  I’m going for a dusting barely measurable - say 1cm. Let’s go for concrete in back or front garden.

I reckon 2cm max here... and I'd be delighted with that off an easterly

Raining here

BBQ’s out here, just been out doing my bit of clapping for Sir Tom and it’s dry and feels pretty mild.

hard to believe that we’ve got a Day After Tomorrow spell of weather on its way by weekend.

Given recent easterlies I reckon 1cm at best.

For most of us, snow pilling across east to west as that low slips South Saturday & Sunday.

I’m feeling ever so slightly less optimistic tonight , based on Kasim’s post, a slightly slacker flow on a few of the charts . Only slightly.

Put me down for 4cm, that’s probably being optimistic for here but we’ll see !

Not looking particularly good for Cumbria

I wouldn't worry at this stage. Every chance snow will make it to Cumbria, Carlisle is about 60 miles from east coast.. far closer than most of rest of region.
