Very jealous of you folks out east. Looks like this part of the world is going to get v little to no snowfall, sadly.

Yep, without covid and if I didn’t have 2 kids I’d be booking a room in a hotel somewhere in Kent this weekend

You might be right but as Foulness is as flat as a pancake, out on the marshes I am not sure where it could achieve such a depth.

Had the same out towards Brightlingsea if I recall, you only need a road in a bit of a hollow and a long fetch across those flat fields and it banks up real good against any hedges then up and over and fill the the hollow.

Literally I am outside the purple area by a millimetre. It must be about 1 mile from my location here on East Herts / West Essex border.

Shouldn't take you long to walk a millimetre...

Sadly not good @ coastal significance!!!.. however I’d expect 50 miles or so inland from the coast-and as per previous post from say reading eastward... the amber alert extension.. as we gain.. @24/48hr window!..

Forgive me...Forever learker (beastly  summer storms and ....snow ...  in my dreams)... am south east Kent, about 100 mtrs from the coast.

Stupidly got my sledges out n brought my kids new snow boots, waterproofs etc (yeah i know, dont need to tell me, first rule of fight club )

Is it a bust for us? Trust ya knowledge, you clearly know!

When I lived in Brighton, the exact direction of the airflow and where streamers were directed was all important - so one of those situations that by Tuesday you could end up with 10cm if the streamer aligns well. If it doesn’t then Eastbourne could have the 10cm and Brighton less than 5.

One thing I love about ice days though, is the icicles that can form from melting snow on roofs that refreezes. Saw some great ones in 2010 and 1991.

I would take 5cm at the moment , it’s been so long since we have seen snow . Yes I remember 2010 icicles , they were amazing

Yep amber warning looks good today based on the 12z.

For those in normal streamer spots it's probably going to end up with now casting it as the models very much struggle.

Outside of those areas, it does look bleak especially further west you go sadly.

Breakdown has morphed into a slow and steady erosion of the block rather than a bang frontal breakdown.

ECM draws in a very cold SE airflow  at the surface by Thursday, such a flow would be give very low temps around the SE given extensive snow cover over Europe.

There were definately 30 foot drifts in 1987 in parts of Essex and Kent, I have numerous weather journals with these amounts with pictures, the books are in the loft but will get up there one day and take some pictures of the pages on my phone and upload them

Have a look on RainToday at the far North of Scotland. They are in the Easterly now. Look at those 2 Streamers kicking off. That’s the sort of thing for us down here in a few Days

Does anybody recollect what sort of snow amounts were forecast in our region before the BFTE episode back in 2018 by the MetO...just wondering if they were accurate back then and if they might be underplaying accumulations, maybe a case of firming up on possible amounts tomorrow?

Sorry really don’t want to appear picky but. I still find it difficult to believe in 30ft drifts having lived more than a few years in Essex.   Anyone got a photo?

Well I’m sure my fellow “E Sx fairly near the coasters” would take that now, between 5 and 10cms would beat the 2018 BFTE for me at least.
