Picking up a bit here now with a suggestion of a few larger flakes appearing. Grass on the turn a little.

Four hours of light pellets and nothing really settled so far, so at least we're getting started.

Hopefully this can perk up as we move through the day.

I’m quite a bit further out in the suburbs, probably why. Chingford is on the border of Gtr London and Essex.

I've just been out with the dog. The snow is incredibly dry, it was just blowing past me and so didn't get wet at all. But it isn't settling so I can only guess that the temperature is too high at the surface and the snow isn't heavy enough to bring the temperature down.

Not exactly a whiteout yet, light snow blowing around in the breeze, probably a few cms accumulated, was expecting it to be heavier here what with the amber warning.

Just pepped up again, here... Lidl's roof is 'smoking'!

It’s going to be a damp squib. There is nothing but rain here. Accumulations, if they happen at all, will be minimal for most of our region.

Where exactly are you? All snow falling here in Chingford.

What a disappointment for south Essex! Orange zone you say!

Disappointing for most I think!

But, I guess some sweet spots will get a pasting?

You're definitely winning the unluckiest forum member competition this winter especially considering the level of content you provide!

Probably approaching a couple of hours of light snow here now, there's zero settle. The automatic forecast on the MO seem to suggest we won't be below 0c here until early afternoon, and they've pushed the 'heavy snow' forecast back (again) to 7pm tonight.

Everything white here... Apart from roads and paths... Not doing too badly and got heavier recently, but I do want to see this on roads and hard surfaces. Last key transition point into a proper snow event.

Just light snow here this morning. A bit of settling on cars and vegetation but nothing on the surface. Suggests air temp is now below zero but ground temps above.

glad I didn’t bother staying up last night as still wet rather than white.

Well I'm calling this a bust! It's really struggling to settle on the roads, and with it keep stopping it wont get much worse. Might as well remove the amber warning and Blizzards

Snizzle blowing in the wind here.  Not settling anywhere.  Gutted isn't the word.  I really had hoped I was in for a shot this time

*kicks pram over in a temper*

Update to Crystal Palace - light to moderate snow, still not settling - but temperature now down to 1.3, so I think the trend is our friend

Coming down nicely now in Medway and sticking to grass and cars but not settling on concrete which we need it to really to get a good build up.

ppn has been all snow here for over an hour, and i'm a bit closer to the city centre. Find it hard to believe it was raining out there.

So how many hours are we behind the initial thought. Is it likely to intensify this afternoon

The automatic forecast is trash. Just look at the radar - we are -0.1c here now.

I keep watching snow blow off the roof opposite. First time I've seen this small dry stuff fall.

so glad I didn't' waste last night lamppost watching.

On the other hand it probably still would have been better than sitting through 'Inferno'.... a truly awful film, one I cant believe Tom Hanks ever agree to take part in!

Steady light snow here bu nothing settling yet much.  Was thinking Spurs v WBA at 12pm would have to be played with an orange ball based on what I was expecting but I can't see there being much of a need for that now.....

Snow here alternating between light and very light. Been snowing constantly for 3/4 hours though.
Strong winds and snow is settling though.

Temp:  0 °C
DP:      -1 °C

That heavy band seems to have stalled and Norwich seems to be on the ragged edge of all the predictions, could get pasted, could get very little.
Annoyingly, it looks like we could get caught in the dry sector between the front and the showers to the north, which would be pretty typical tbf.
