What's even more amazing is most if the models called it as well. Even the GFS had a fairly decent representation  given its limitations. Arome and arprge nailed it though, very impressive.

See how the snow avoids London

Is anyone actually getting anything from that streamer through Sheerness/Maidstone/Paddock Wood area etc?

Yeah it's just about noticeable, Heavy snizzle bursts which have settled but not stuck to the ground, just blowing about

Quite an amazing streamer currently running all the way from the North Norfolk coast to nearly Southampton!

That’s the one that was just south east of me, it sort of faded as it went over me and has now reinvigorated to the west of me. Marvellous

We should lose the NNE winds soon and switch around to more of a NE direction bringing more areas into the fold. Hopefully we'll see convection beginning to pick up a bit too, looking rather sorry for itself at the moment.

If you run the radar through from about an hour ago you see the snow showers approach Whitstable and then split to go around it. Just like pigeons do if you are in a field and they fly towards you - but never overhead!

Need the winds to back up to more of an easterly. Look at the convection kicking off north of the Wash all the way up to Scotland. Streaming far inland.

It’ll all probably kick off from after midnight when everyone’s gone to bed and many will wake up to a surprise (maybe) lol

Well after a very disappointing day with me constantly telling the kids "Don't worry, it's coming!", I'm DONE!!! Off to bed because I woke early as I was excited about today, lol! Meto has me down for light snow tomorrow evening and into Tuesday so I shall try to relax until then with much less expectation! See you for snow chasing tomorrow guys!!xx

That's good to know - At least Darcy has delivered for someone.

Darcy has left a few others on here feeling a bit underwhelmed.

Just got back from a walk.  Roads and pavements round here are glazed with ice.  Treacherous.   Got away from the roads and headed up to a nearby ridge in the pitch dark at 150m with the head torch on full beam.  A crusty layer of ice on top of the mud, thin dustings of now frozen snow illuminated by my light, a mobile sky full of stars in between the shifting clouds pushed on by the north easterly.

Wonderful to hitch up again to the trusty Scarpa mountaineering boots.

There's no way im doing another all nighter, I just hope I can get under a streamer, salvage something out of this rather disappointing event for me, still snowing here, im talking 1 flake an hour. In fact it's probably the same flake doing the rounds. I can't believe after hours and hours of snow, I've barely got a dusting. Im sure 1 day, I'll witness another dec 2010, or march 2013, my last proper snowfall to date

Temperature down to -3 here in Locksbottom so only 0.1 to go to make it coldest night of winter.Hope winds move to more a NE and then a ENE Wind over next 24-36 hours as that would hopefully mean more on here would see some snowfall.Parts of Suffolk Essex and East Kent have down very well and whilst the western extent of Amber Region was too far it wasn’t a bad call in the end.Forecasting snow in the UK is notoriously difficult as this last event has just proved.

good luck to those who hopefully get some more showers overnight and have a feeling this thread will be very busy again tomorrow and indeed Tuesday!Looks like we won’t go above zero here till Friday at the earliest,

stay safe

Despite not being under any precipitatation for 2 hours and none within a 20 mile radius it has continued to moderately snow here and is increasing depth just madness

It must be drifting snow, but up high, rather than after it's on the ground.
