To get started darcy is the clear fly in ointment for pressure apply on convective application!.. however as things progress and she tames.. the notion is definitely building for more of a direct easterly.. not a flat zone horizontal.. but likely a more productive 1. Without so much north easterly component.   And south of that dark black iso line... which is pretty much most of us... are in the potential game...it’s half time.. rather than an orange pour a drink ..and await 2nd half possibility!!!.. the precipitation gate is more than still open...

Definate change in wind direction, however showers are really dying quick when they hit the land, so not sure how far they will get. As usual nothing much getting past the north downs.

Funny, because when its rain - it has no problem clearing the north downs

The end is near unfortunately

Not necessarily, the end you refer to 'might' allow convective showers to start, like further north.

Is anyone actually getting anything from that streamer through Sheerness/Maidstone/Paddock Wood area etc?

Just heard very noisy gusts outside and went to take a look. And something was falling from the sky that wasn't rain. It may have been brief but as I am in NE Hants I am taking that as a win.

wow! took an hour and a half break thinking our 1-2cm was what it’d max out at and just took a peak out the window and it’s still going with a couple inches easily over everything, looks pretty deep in the drifts by the fence! i can see why the amber was necessary now, these are going to be hellish conditions tomorrow morning

The thin cuts in them are designed to trap snow and increase grip. In Germany its a law to swap to Winter tyres at a certain point in the year. We dont get enough snow to warrant it.

I knew it was something to do with either trapping snow or shaking it off. They certainly help a lot - always put them on from November in Canada. Not need in the UK though 99% of the time, as you say.

Quite an amazing streamer currently running all the way from the North Norfolk coast to nearly Southampton!

I just can’t see it.  (Only my opinion, so hope I’m wrong)

Summer tyres and way too much confidence in a 4x4 sold to them by a dealership selling the dream. I worked for Range rover years ago, generally without winter tyres they are awful in the snow.

The base model Evoque is only 2 wheel drive.

Now in Deal. Happy with our depth today as we are so close to the sea and usually end up with nothing. We have about 3 inches in garden but a 5 minute walk to seafront and vertically nothing on ground.  Bit more in Sandwich when we went for an essential drive earlier too ??

In my experience, more off road vehicles end up in ditches than any other type because the drivers seem to think they can drive however they want because they have "special" vehicles.

Very true. (Though I wouldn't call most 4x4's "off road) I've owned Land Rovers for 9 years and I'm well aware that though  I have more traction, when it comes to braking on ice and snow, it's the same as any other vehicle. You have to know how to drive them...

So interestingly the MET have shower activity picking up in the next hour or two with yellows and greens showing on the precipitation intensity, we'll see what happens!

Wow I've never seen such a straight line on the radar. I'd feel very privileged to be under that!

What's even more amazing is most if the models called it as well. Even the GFS had a fairly decent representation  given its limitations. Arome and arprge nailed it though, very impressive.

that’s the one that’s hovered over us since about 5pm and given us everything we’ve had so far, very impressive honestly as it started on the radar over my head initially as a small back building shower!

Despite not being under any precipitatation for 2 hours and none within a 20 mile radius it has continued to moderately snow here and is increasing depth just madness

Didnt look at the video, just RR in general give people a false sense of security.
